Re: Saving cut tracks to USB
Anyone can open and play an MP3 sound file. But to make one requires (until recently) licensed and purchased software. The Lame software package is a work-alike, non-licensed Audacity add-on that allows making very close MP3s without writing a check. Screen Shot 2019-04-23 at 3.17.03.png https://lam...

Re: Opening/Importing *.au files after crash
The process, last I looked, sorts the AU files by time and date. It shouldn't matter that the program is closed. This is why the process falls apart immediately if you edited the piece. Also, stereo shows have Left and Right files too close to each other to sort them properly, so the process guesses...

Re: Copying a sentence 5X including a silence between each
Glad to help. It is a bit of a juggling act. Sometimes we can get the sophistication of the user from the message and tailor appropriately, but sometimes we just go at full speed until somebody stops us. There's a list of "what they asked" and "what they really want." Sometimes s...

Re: Can't install Noise Gate for Audacity
We should remember this is a forum, users helping each other, not a Help Desk. So the more information you can give us about what you're doing, the faster we can help you, but the more information everybody else has.where did you find it?

Re: Inquiry
No. Audacity can't split individual voices, instruments or sounds from a mixed performance. Once all the parts are mixed into one show, it's permanent. Is there a way to separate the two?

Re: Voice recording using mic is worse than no-mic?
Messages from forum new users have to be read by a forum elf before they are made visible. So please don't double post. We will get there. There is one evil post. Do Not try to sell us anything. Sales posts are deleted and the poster is exiled. We are not interested in buying new kitchen cabinets in...

Re: Voice recording using mic is worse than no-mic?
Something is heavily processing the microphone sound. It's going through noise reduction and room echo suppression and that's what gives it that odd, underwater sound. There are other clues as well. The blue waves are perfect and that's almost impossible unless the microphone or recorder processing ...

Re: Can't install Noise Gate for Audacity
Where is this tutorial? The problem with Noise Gate is a ticklish adjustment between not enough and too much. Badly adjusted Noise Gate can give you little noise tails before and after words. It can restrict the artistic and theatrical emphasis on words and phrases as those phrases may fall outside ...

Re: Can't install Noise Gate for Audacity
Yes. I'm just now waking up the real question. When you download Noisegate.ny , make sure your computer didn't try to add .txt to the end of the file during download. Finding out can be a pain in the neck because Windows will try to hide the .txt in the name "to help you." Once you have No...

Re: Sound is cut off at low volume
What he said. The silent stretches are not the only problem. Turn on View > Show Clipping. All the red marks are distortion where the sound got too loud.
The blue waves are never supposed to go up (or down) to 100% (or 1.0).
