Re: Recording a Skype conversations

There are other ways to do this. As you noticed, you can record your own voice just fine. You have each party record their own voice and ship you their found files later. This has the advantage that the bubbly Skype voice never appears in the show. This looks like a four-way Skype call, but it's not...

Re: Recording a Skype conversations

I did it with two computers and a small mixer. The older machines had analog stereo in and out and interfaced with the mixer without too much trouble. In modern machines, an interface (or two) such as the Behringer UCA-202 can be used. The mixer can send the local voice and the far-side voice down t...

Re: Audio quality problems after moving project files from one hard drive to another

the files otherwise appear to be the same as they were before That is, the blue waves appear rational? None of them go all the way up or down? I can bring this home to one of two conditions. The original sound monitor system was broken and you just couldn't hear damage or what was happening, or the...

Re: Vocal Effect like Effeil 65

Are you Blue and are you going to Move Your Body? Isn't that simple Auto-Tune? I suspect Jay can't hold a tune in a bucket, so they just built the Auto-Tune into the song similar to that one thing that Cher did on Believe . I don't know that Audacity has an Auto-Tune effect that's any good. Others m...

Re: Changing export bit depth for mastering

One side issue, if you never come down from 32-float, you don't need dithering noise in the export.

Re: Removing vocal track

Oh, there is one consumer-level trick that actually works. Movies with Dolby Stereo put the dialog on the middle track and the music on Front-Left and Front-Right. Those separate perfectly. Now all you need is a Dolby Movie with your track on it, a movie ripper and a sound editor that knows what Dol...

Re: Removing vocal track

Maybe this is just urban legend.
Or more likely, the clean sitcom track is available. No separation needed.

Even if absolutely all the moons and starts line up and the stereo separation is perfect, just sending the track through YouTube processing or MP3 (or both) just kills you.

Re: Saving cut tracks to USB

What he said. If you just play the sound files on the computer, you're likely to get them in alphabetical order by filename. You can fake that by intentionally ordering the song titles. aaa-Boogie_Shoes.mp3 There is software that lets you order music by your desire rather than A-B-C. Most Audio CD s...

There's a whole faction group dedicated to the best way to hide the cable. I like surgical tape on the back of the tie.

tell me if Samsung S6 is great enough to record audio I can't tell from the sales information. Somebody on the forum has to actually own one to give you good information. Boya BY M1 Lavalier Mic I don't think there's anything wrong with the microphone. It seems to be a simple lavalier similar to se...
