Re: Waveform too small
turn it up until the LED just starts to go red when you speak loudly That's the other trick. The knob turns red at a known, predictable volume. If you can't force it to turn red as a test, then you are recording at too low a volume. You may be too far away from the microphone or are just too soft-s...

Re: Recording a Skype conversations
Any ideas? Yes. Stop trying to force one computer to communicate and record the show. Plain computers have one record channel where you are expected to plug your microphone in and save your voice to the drive, and one playback channel where you listen to YouTube videos, and they don't connect to ea...

Re: ACX-check not appearing
One other trick. It's in Analyze, not Effects. There are ways to mess up ACX Check. It needs at least 3/4 second of clean, pure background noise to give you an accurate Noise value. No clicking your teeth, gasping for breath or shuffling in your seat. If you have no clean noise sample, it will measu...

Re: Are there no markers in this application?
There's many use cases where it is very useful to mark specific time positions I wonder how many people are expecting content to be labeled, not time. I suspect most of us. That's how Markers work. That's the point of the complaint. For the three people who want to mark a specific time, that's when...

Re: Not working with a project...
Audacity is a Project or show editor not a WAV editor. It considers your work a failure if you don't save a Project. Nobody likes the way this works. Other programs think everything is OK if you save anything and only warn if you save nothing. I think there is one condition that works as expected. I...

Re: Recording a Skype conversations
I'd still like to know how to record a Skype conversation directly on Audacity. I don't think you do with any reliability. Skype is viciously aggressive and unpredictable. It does not play well with others. That's why it's the top conference program on earth. We warn people to close Skype completel...

Re: Are there no markers in this application?
I don't understand why label tracks don't automatically sync-lock. What else would you want? If you make any significant change to the associated sound track, the labels will all be lying.
Default labels are decorative or pretty, but not useful.

They aren't attached to a track of audio You can Sync-Lock tracks to each other. https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/sync_locked_track_groups.html You can't even laboriously use them to select audio Labels are sticky or magnetic and will capture a mouse pointer. Re: Waveform too small
If you record mono (depending on your job), I don't think the instrument half does anything, but turn it all the way down anyway.
