Control + Wheel on my machine zooms the whole desktop and screen, it's not an Audacity setting.
Audacity has to juggle keys and settings that are significant to different machine types.

Re: Audacity won't record properly
regular recording where while the beat is playing when I speak into the mic it is in sync and timed right to fit the recording. Computers naturally want to play or record, never both at once. To get both at once is the special condition called overdubbing. Play a backing track while you sing or pla...

Re: Noise reduction effect.
One more. I don't think there is any way to save a profile, other than saving the portion of sound used to make the profile.

Re: Noise reduction effect.
I believe the Noise Profile hangs around until you close Audacity. It doesn't hang around until you change it which is how many of the other effects work.

Re: Preventing clicks and pops
Does it do that if you make a recording from the laptop built-in microphone? That's your desperation method anyway if your big microphone system goes into the mud and you want to get a show out. That's a great place to start because that can clear the machine internal processes, sound channel and Au...

Re: odd looking wave form
Audacity has an effect similar to this squashing. Effect > Distortion > Leveler. It produces tip reduction without affecting the rest of the wave. It was deprecated from normal sound processing because of distortion and tonal shifts, but it was retained in Special Effects because of its ability to p...

Re: odd looking wave form
If we're still talking about the same mixer, it's pitched to musical performers and artists. If I was building this thing, I would build in a very gentle limiter to make it difficult to overload the sound by accident. It would look exactly like the blue wave tip flattening you experienced in your re...

Re: odd looking wave form
I`ve been getting somewhat weak recordings although quite useable. Distortion sounds loud. So it's possible two things happened when you turned up the mixer. It actually did get loud, but very few people can hear a two or three dB change. If you also created distortion, everybody can hear that imme...

Re: [AUDIO] Remove that S whistle sound?
I have been able to use these settings to good advantage on some of my essy tracks. I've been processing to Audiobook standards and then apply DeEssing. I found that's a lot more reliable with fewer adjustments.
