Re: Niquist ACX check nightmare

I have RMS normalise on Audacity and have used it. How did you install it? The process is exactly the same for ACX Check except it shows up in Analyze instead of Effect. You need to resolve this because if you have a home condenser microphone, it's likely you may need other, additional tools. I can...

Re: Crashing when trying to import larger mp3 files

There is an additional step in Windows. If your disk was full and had been used that way for some time, files are not posted as one single thing. They're broken up into fragments depending on space available. The more fragments, the sloppier and slower the drive. You can manually defragment. https:/...

Re: Crashing when trying to import larger mp3 files

We should remember that a song inside Audacity is larger than outside. Audacity converts audio to a much higher quality so it doesn't fall apart when you start adding effects, filters and corrections. It also saves the entire show as UNDO under some conditions, so even if you do manage to get the sh...

Re: Need help recovering a crashed project

I did not restart the mac. I mean restart it after the first crash, not this one. Where are the other, successful shows? What kind of Mac is it? Desktop > Go > Computer > Right-click or Control-Tap Macintosh HD > Get INFO. Screen cap the top of that INFO panel, down to Name and Extension. Post it. ...

Re: Need help recovering a crashed project

Was this going to be a typical podcast? Where are the others? The AUP file thinks you were using Audacity 2.3.1. Were you? What did the screen look like? Audacity just vanished or did it freeze? Did you get any of the Mac spinning pinwheels? Did you restart the Mac from the last time it did this? Koz

Re: remove and keep sections based on markers

Just so we're clear. When you delete a segment, do you want that time to vanish and the two keeps to hit each other, or do you want the delete space to go to silence and keep all the timings. People who manage translations and classes frequently want silent stretches for the students to try the tran...

Re: Power Point slideshow/converting to video

MP3 isn't one thing. It has settings and configurations. Could this be the difference between stereo and mono? What quality/data rate did you use? Middle of the road for stereo is 128. You can go down to 32 on a mono show and almost get away with it. Audiobook submission requirements are 192 or high...

Re: Accessing Audio Source (Scarlett 2i2)

The newer Macs are skittish about blindly accepting new connections, so you have to enable them in Preferences.

Apple (upper left) > System Preferences > Security and Privacy (I think).
