Re: junk in audacity/plug-ins

delete the files pluginregistry.cfg and pluginsettings.cfg
Really? I have to do a system level change to remove a plugin?

How about an Add/Remove Plugin button [Refresh].

Re: Clipping during multiple track playback

When Audacity plays tracks, it just adds them all up. You can't have clipping inside Audacity because of it's super high quality internal format—if it looks like you're going over, you can use any of the volume tools to bring down the level and no harm done. But you can't export anything with high v...

Re: Records only if I restart my pc

The problem is the computer is used as a presentation computer with PowerPoint and restarting during an event is distracting. The question is forcing itself past my lips: "Why are you starting an Audacity session in the middle of a critical PowerPoint session? How are you keeping the Audacity ...

Re: Audio Noise/Hissing with Yeti Blue Mic

Yo this worked! Splitting it to mono and muting/deleting the bad track. It's weird though right?
Yes. That's the desperation method. Get the show out the door.

Can you try a different computer? If that's damaged, the microphone is probably fried.

I'm violating somebody's rule there. Go for simple, first. problem of going off by itself How long have you been plugging and unplugging the USB cable into your Mac? They do wear out. A ratty connection in the wrong place may cause the Solo to temporarily dump at any time. Once it goes down, the com...

dealing with continually having to pull up the Normalize box would slow me down too much. We're not solving your problem. We're identifying it so you don't have to go through that exercise in the future. I will do that until I am done with my current project. Did it work? I've been wondering if the...

Screen Shot 2019-05-26 at 3.44.12.png It's multi-pattern, not multi channel. It's still a mono microphone with the ability to direct where it gets its sound from by switching around capsules. When I use the left only, it sounds perfectly clear Use the drop-down menu on the left and Split Stereo to ...

Re: Generate a signal

Are we after entertainment or testing? Audacity is an audio production editor not a WAV editor. The distinction can cause problems with scientists and techies. If there is a choice between making something sound good and have it perfect, we usually go for sounding good. You should remember that any ...

Re: Compressor threshold and input level

Using the tools has always been a challenge because they seem to have an adjustment missing. You might like RMS Normalize. https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=325078#p325078 RMS is a standard electrical measurement (power transformers, wall sockets) that when applied to sound, happens to ...

Re: stereo analysis

I requested that a while ago. I think the closest we got was the phase meter at the bottom of your illustration.

The ball of yarn is insanely graphics heavy and it's not like anything else, so whoever develops that has to start from dead zero.

I don't know that we ever got any closer.
