Re: Reduce static on voice
Step one, we're not going to fix that. There's too much damage and it's in many of the same tones as your voice. How are you recording your voice? In detail. Plug the Deity into your Mac? Did you plug the Deity into a radio transmitter system? That's what it sounds like. You're wearing a hip-pack tr...

Re: Won't read or write to external harddrive (D:)
most of my internal harddrive is photos. Are you following digital hygiene? Be able to point to two separate places that have your valuable work? Internal Drive, External Drive, Cloud Backup and Flash Drives all count as one. Two folders on your internal drive doesn't count. I recently rescued some...

Re: Noise Reduction Profile Sticky??
It doesn't cause damage. It's an inconvenience. I'd be happy if an update appeared somewhere on a developer to-do list.It really could do with an update.

Re: Won't read or write to external harddrive (D:)
The drive specifications have the RPM as "Other" and it's powered from the USB cable, so it's probably an SSD and that's not it. I think it's the Party Line that you upgrade to 3.0.2. It fixed a lot of problems in 3.0.0. If that still doesn't work, it's possible go back to 2.4.2 from the p...

Re: Initial sound when pressing the recording button with iRig Studio Mic
Audacity activates my mic (its light turns on) I don't know that the light is supposed to turn on to indicate recording. It's supposed to be on to indicate connection to the computer. If it turns on just before recording, you may be listening to the microphone startup/powerup which can be really no...

Re: Won't read or write to external harddrive (D:)
the hard drive is connected via a usb cable. How long is the USB cable? These are some of the same symptoms that Audacity exhibits when it tries to manage cloud drives with notoriously sloppy access. What was the drive before this one? Is it spinning metal and not Solid State? Does it try to "...

Re: Rode Procaster dynamic mic loud hiss
I didn't post the Audiobook Mastering Suite settings. This is the short form. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/AudiobookMasteringSuite.jpg And this is the same thing from the formal instructions. https://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Audiobook_Mastering Again, don't skip steps or add any in the ...

Re: Rode Procaster dynamic mic loud hiss
And one complexity note. Yes, Audacity has "Macros" which are programs that group associated tools into one action. There is a Macro for AudioBook Mastering, but it's not unconditionally stable under Audacity 2.4.2. It's only recommended for Audacity 3.0.0 and later—Audacity 3.0.2 is curre...

Re: Rode Procaster dynamic mic loud hiss
Hum. Are you using a laptop? One of the less obvious hum pathways is the connection to the wall—your power brick or cable. A test is to do the same recording with and without the wall connection. I've had instances where the performer couldn't use battery power because the batteries were in such bad...
