Re: Dropouts on all recordings
tried every possible suggestion to no avail. There is a desperation method. If you go much over about two to three weeks struggling with the computer, stop using the computer. This is a Zoom H4 sound recorder. I just took delivery of a Zoom H1n and I'm happy with it. Neither of them has computer re...

Re: Improving noise reduction
I'm not having problems with it now that I change device. What did you go from and to? This is a forum with users helping each other. It would be good to know that. We have been known to recommend kit or not according to users experiences. Being able to shoot whatever you want and turn it into a ma...

This is a fuzzy rule of thumb. Sit where you would be announcing. Can you tell if your computer is on just by listening?

Re: Improving noise reduction
So what I'm asking, is if there is a way that noise reduction can pick up the noise better? You probably want Audacity to reduce more noise better. Audacity picks it up just fine. This is the improved Noise Reduction. The older version only reduced noise in the spaces between sounds or voices. If y...

Re: Forum Test Clip
It's "PattyDaddy" if you're after the Saturday Morning Cartoon version of your name. Are you testing for audiobook reading? It's good to say that at the top. If you are, you violated some of the instructions. I can hear a lip smack in the first two seconds, so you didn't freeze and hold yo...

Re: Niquist ACX check nightmare
One note. I did cut off everything after about 14-1/2 seconds. It's not good to leave too much silence in the tests. The two seconds of room tone at the beginning is enough for ACX Check to chew on. If you put too much silence in the piece, it can throw off RMS. Root Mean Square is a sort of average...

That's more better. First three listings and sentence 2/3 down. Screen Shot 2019-06-14 at 16.24.44.png KOZ-TRACK-3Mastered.wav I won't be able to listen critically for an hour or two, but as far as I can tell, that should be good to go. All I did to it was apply the tools in Audiobook Mastering. htt...

Re: Lost Files
Audacity saves your show in little six-second au files. That's what's in the _DATA folder. The AUP (program manager) file has the instructions how to put it all together into your show. If you're missing either one or either is damaged, that may be the end of your show. It's a terrific idea to Expor...

Re: Low RMS levels for ACX
first audio book that I have competed with my new mic. Was the old one broken or deficient in some way? You violated an unofficial rule that when you get something to work, hang onto it with white knuckles. If you scan down the forum postings, the longest ones are almost always someone trying to re...
