Re: Niquist ACX check nightmare
I am intrigued that they recommend the graphic equalizer as opposed to the amplification before normalize, limiter, ACX check The first step is a rumble filter. It doesn't matter what the volume is for that. Most sound lower pitch than about 100Hz is useless (or outright evil) and is discarded. Thi...

Re: Zoom H1n
H4n Pro and the H5. Google using external microphones with the Zoom products. I have an original Zoom H4 and it's a bad idea to consider using external microphones with it because of poor performance. However, they all seem to get along with their own microphones just fine. I'm looking for somethin...

Re: Niquist ACX check nightmare
And one other depressing note. Technical conformance—what we've been doing— is the first test. After you pass that, your submission goes on to Human Quality Control where they judge your theatrical presentation. This is where you go to die if you can't read out loud. We're not that good judging this...

Re: Improving noise reduction
you don't know if you can trust me yet No, and you're not making it any better. I don't trust posts with no back story. There is a dark side to Audacity. One of the common requests is for improved noise reduction to help dig voices or sounds out of heavy noise and interference for the purpose of su...
Re: New user
How do I edit that? You don't. Overload is one of the four horsemen. Guaranteed ways to kill your show. Most if not all recording systems have a way to tell when you're overloading. Even my silly Shure X2U has one light that changes color from Green (OK), Yellow (approaching trouble) and Red (sound...

Re: What might cause Audacity to skip/record silence?
There's obviously not much we can do about this situation I don't know about that. Is it important enough for you to ship the mixed show to that person and let them try to recreate the dialog using the same microphone, environment and computer? I'm betting they remember what they said given the pro...

Re: Dropouts on all recordings
I found the H1n photo.
Substitute my quiet third bedroom for all that wood. Everything else stays the same. That is the script for my sound test.

Re: Dropouts on all recordings
How important is recording in Audacity to you? If it's the reason you get up in the morning, you could Revert to your earlier Windows. The one that made good recordings. The other blanket process is take the machine off-line. Disconnect the network cable or shut down WiFi. Clean Start with Shift-Shu...
