One way is to select track 2 with the SELECT button on the left and then use the time shift tool (two sideways black arrows) to push track 2 so its beginning lines up with track 1 end. Audacity > Effects > Normalize is different from the "RMS Normalize" that you have to download and install.

Did you post here about that? That should be a simple lock file deletion. They get stuck—usually when you have a crash or other evil event. Are you prone to evil events?

Not back to the original, no. What you get with normal Audacity tools is a rapidly escalating noise level followed by a drop to silence too soon at the end.

That Audacity version takes a different FFMpeg. That's the software you need for formats other than MP3 and WAV.
