Re: Harsh 'T' sounds... and S too I think
Found it. https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=366074#p366074 The DeEsser defaults are not the best and that's the set I use. One shortcoming of the DeEsser is the need to produce the voice track first, before you apply the tool. That's what the audiobook mastering suite is doing. That's n...

Re: Harsh 'T' sounds... and S too I think
The presentation has "ice pick in the ears" sibilance and "essing." I can well imagine what listening to that on headphones would be like. You also have compression (talking into a milk jug or wine glass) distortion. This is quite a low quality 56kbps export. Oddly, that's not it...

Re: An 'RMS Compressor'
And it's exactly there you leave us in the dust. Audacity isn't for scientists. It will make them crazy. Audacity routinely makes decisions on whether something will sound good, not whether it's scientifically accurate.it's about getting the precise RMS one wants

Re: An 'RMS Compressor'
Processing music is seriously difficult and you might want to consider other techniques altogether. No word on whether Chris's Compressor is still alive or not. Chris Capel wrote that so he could listen to opera in the noisy car. It has a lot of the same characteristics as broadcast compressors—almo...

Re: Microphone picking up "no-existent" sounds
I don't know where else to go with that. How do you get US mains hum in the UK?It will take a while to test the "start from zero" strategy

Re: recording stops suddenly
record by my voice with microphone. What microphone and how is it connected? Pretend I want to buy one. Sound files take a lot of room, much more so than simple text files, for example. How much room is there on the machine? Start > Computer > INFO something like that. https://www.lifewire.com/how-...
