Re: Pro Ears - Is My Raw File Fixable?
That's better. So now it's between you and ACX. Let me predict the past. She recorded the first one out on the kitchen table because it was so much more comfortable than the soundproof cloak closet she had been using. When you complained, she went back in the closet (so to speak). Audacity plug-in t...

Re: Any Way to Recover "Orphaned Files"?
So two questions: Only one: How do I keep Audacity from crashing? Did you build your machine? Is there an exhaustive Linux memory checker? The one that loops and you leave running all night? Video and audio production programs take lots of elbow room. Creating a spreadsheet may not take up lots of ...

Re: Pro Ears - Is My Raw File Fixable?
Yes. Too much room echo. Depending on how handy you/they are, this would be a perfect application for the kitchen table studio. https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=369938#p369938 It's terrific with echoes because the voice has to get to the microphone only once, but the echo has to go thr...

Re: recording level too high or low, There's no gradation.
Voicemeeter + Skype + discord. That's a very complicated sound system with lots and lots of things that could cause problems. If I were to attempt trouble shooting this problem, I'd start by ensuring that a minimum number of programs and processes start automatically (disable Skype, discord, Voicem...

Re: recording level too high or low, There's no gradation.
might be the clue that the Windows elves or developers need to jump in here and ask some questions. Or might not. Your Desperation Method is use the older Audacity and freeze the machine there. No more upgrades. I have several machines like that. They're not upgradable because of version support pr...

Not mentioned yet is that that the stereo-image is different between the two........ And when you get done carefully adjusting all those corrections you'll be ready to settle down to a nice comfortable retirement in a thatched cottage in the Cotswolds. Re: recording level too high or low, There's no gradation.
I have managed to make an improvement How? Any clue you can give us is more clues than we have. Report any change you make that changes the damage. From the ten thousand foot view: There's something about the sound pathways in the newer Audacity licenses that causes circular sound routing (feedback...

Re: recording level too high or low, There's no gradation.
Complete Noise-Free Recording Volume is greater than 0.5 and less than 1.00 I suspect it's a lot worse than that or the poster wouldn't be complaining about it. Also see: ..the audio quality, is nowhere near as good as it was.. Can you make a screen grab of the Devices and Recording preferences pan...
