Re: Can I determine the percentage of volume increase?
Sound doesn't fit very well in percent. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/AudacityRecording-650w.jpg See that streak of green left to right? That's a sound meter from "dead quiet" on the left to maximum loudness on the right. This is a freeze-frame. That meter is normally bouncing to ...

Re: overlapping of backing track while recording
Two things can cause that. You need to be recording from your microphone or microphone system ONLY. Not What-U-Hear, Stereo Mix or other software device. This is the probable cause if you like recording internet music. That's the wrong setting for Overdubbing. Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Recordi...

Re: Level meter range -59 db
make it independently settable for record level and playback meters. Why would you want that? I think I would have trouble following that. The two meters are already independently settable for Gradient (Recording) and Peak/RMS (Playback). I do something you might consider. I spread the 96dB range o...

You can switch the timeline to Spectogram View with the pull-down menu on the left. That will give you time from left to right and frequency (pitch) up the left. Pull the track taller to get better accuracy. Screen Shot 2019-06-27 at 08.28.14.png But I don't think that's going to give you what you w...

Did you look at the test suite? The individual tests all have adorable names like "Rippling Checkerboard" and "Wandering Digits."Charging Rhinoceros

Re: Any Way to Recover "Orphaned Files"?
I don't think my memory is the problem. I don't either, but I've had enough of those fail to want to make sure before galloping off with exotic tests and odd assumptions. but given that it got 91% through without finding anything Doesn't count. Memcheck "Charging Rhinoceros" test failed m...

Re: Audacity Crashing Right Before Done Exporting
Drag-select half of the show and File > Export > Export Selected Audio > Pick a name > Save. Then Drag-select the second half and export it the same way with a different name. Accuracy isn't important. Make sure the two overlap. We're in desperation rescue. That will give you the two halves of the s...

Re: Pro Ears - Is My Raw File Fixable?
I don't think he meant you. He meant the artist or supplier of the track. Audiobook Mastering was aggressively designed to have minimum affect on the voice quality.I didn't reduce the treble.
I know this is the wrong time and place, but I wouldn't mind knowing how she created those tracks.

Re: Pro Ears - Is My Raw File Fixable?
That sounds like you've removed a lot to treble in an attempt to treat the excessive sibilance, (e.g. the "t" in accident). True, but I think it got that way by changing the microphone and studio. @Boerum2019 Isn't being a Producer fun? Do you have the sour stomach yet? Have you figured o...

Re: video soundtrack time difference
You can "solve" it with Effect > Change Speed. The effect control panel has different ways to tell the error: start and stop times, percent, duration, etc. Pick the one you're comfortable with. This isn't necessarily the error, but if you're doing work in video land, I would do all the sam...
