Re: clips meets ACX standard but I got rejected because -60db noise reduction
I didn't know those monitors had vent fans. The presentation is close. With careful noise reduction you can get there, but too much noise reduction can give talking into a milk jug distortion to your voice. I don't have an inside track at ACX, but I suspect strongly they watch (listen) for that milk...

That's good. Can I use that? Stalker Breath.it had all my stalker breaths still intact.

Re: clips meets ACX standard but I got rejected because -60db noise reduction
I making the wrong things loud?? There is no "making the wrong things loud." You either have a noisy room or your don't. You would be the biggest hero if you could make a knob or switch which only made you louder and not the room noise. Your voice adjustments for this clip seem to be loud...

Before I forget. ACX does have a process for test submission. I collected a discription of the process.

Re: clips meets ACX standard but I got rejected because -60db noise reduction
I know this appears like some torture that ACX dreamed up to make everybody's life miserable. In fact, their sound standards are a sister to common broadcast radio sound standards. What's different is you're trying to do it in your noisy house.

Re: clips meets ACX standard but I got rejected because -60db noise reduction
Is the raw sample actually the raw sample? This is a clip from before you applied all the filters and corrections, right? There isn't enough clean, pure background noise (room tone) in the sample. All the spaces between words have you breathing or making other noises. Can you cut a sample according ...

Re: Can I determine the percentage of volume increase?
Like Cool Edit does it.I wouldn't mind if the waveform stayed the same and decibels were shown on the left.

You're still only seeing the loudest 24dB of the show, but the numbers translate better.

Re: Can I determine the percentage of volume increase?
Forgot the obvious one. Listen to it. Make sure you have at least one sound system similar to your audience and see if it sounds OK on that. This can be a New User problem when someone is trying to create Great Theater on a laptop—by itself. Sooner or later you have to actually experience the work f...

Re: Need help in Editing a voice-over
Background noise is very common in home recordings. It's the worst problem audiobook readers have. Please record a 20 second voice test and post it on the forum. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/TestClip/Record_A_Clip.html Post it in WAV and do Not Process Anything. Raw performance. Sometimes ther...

Re: Can I determine the percentage of volume increase?
If your show goes out of range of the blue waves, you can use the sound meter and guess at the approximate values. "Peaking at about -20dB" for example. Natural sound doesn't lend itself to precise measurements. You may also notice that my meters don't match the default meters. Meter size ...
