There is a magic condition where Audacity will not do that, past actually saving a Project. If you open a file just to look at it and then immediately close Audacity, it won't warn you, but I swear I've had that condition warn me as well.

Re: Can't avoid "Save project..?" warning.
Do you have the files open in one instance of Audacity? Then you could just [X] close the track.
If you have that many Audacity programs running, then I think yes, that's correct. I think having that many programs running can be dangerous. Someone will correct me.

Re: Struggling to be in ACX standards
Still too low. I've done already other books, but I was using the voice recorder You really need to flesh these things out a lot more for us to follow you. How did you do the other books? Is Voice Recorder an APP or a real hardware thing and what are the makers and model numbers? Pretend we're tryin...

Re: Struggling to be in ACX standards
The voice volume is too low and the background noise is too high. The sound file can't be fixed. You will have to adjust how you record the work. Describe how you record, your microphone and the room. Use these instructions to post a voice test. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/TestClip/Record_A_C...

Re: Bring on the critiques...
Good to go even with no noise reduction at all. I get noise at -65.5dB with straight mastering. However there are two cautions. Your raw reading has blue wave tips over 50% (0.5). That's the 6dB limit for raw capture. If you hit 100% (easy to do at that volume) that may cause permanent sound damage ...

Re: Bring on the critiques...
I forgot to mention my external drive in the equipment list. I have been backing up to that, but will start using cloud backup as well. Thanks for that. Oddly, backups over one aren't recommended, either. There is an insane urge to skip one here and there because, after all, you have the other one,...

Re: High pitched feedback when I start speaking
Are you producing an overdub session where you speak or sing to an existing track?
Make sure Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Recording > [_] Playthrough is NOT selected.

Re: High pitched feedback when I start speaking
There is another poster with complex sound pathways and Voicemeeter and he's having very similar problems. https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=105578 Don't let his description of the problem fool you. His system is oscillating just like yours, but doing it at a very slow rate. Th...

Re: usb mic and double input
There is one universal note. Connect the microphone and wait for the machine to get comfortable with it, then start Audacity. Audacity checks for devices when it starts.
If you do it out of order, the microphone may be invisible. You can force a scan later with Transport > Rescan.
