Room Tone is not only used for interstitials and buffers. It's also used for Noise Reduction and leaving the room is not going to work for that. Depending on your studio, the profiles would be very different.

Re: Sound activated recording too stuttery
Audacity takes a second or so to get going. I wonder why that happens. With all that technology floating around, why doesn't Audacity constantly record a buffer on a two second loop and when it realizes the sound is high enough, it goes back two seconds and picks it up there. stops recording when n...

Re: Bring on the critiques...
Hit record, leave the room, come back in a minute later. I wonder about that. Depending on your microphone and "studio," you can get profoundly different room tone depending on whether you're there or not. For example, if you're using a Porta-Booth or Kitchen Table Studio, your body is 25...

I'm in Los Angeles and I just watched the Warm California Sun® sink slowly in the west. Linux help is likely to come from England, so backtime as appropriate.

Re: Error: Invalid Token (644) AND corrupted (static) files, export to WAV not available
I accidentally disconnected my device while Windows was updating. To read this back to you, you changed the machine while it was doing an operating system update. That's scary. I would be checking the system for errors. You can start by doing a clean start. Shift-Shutdown, wait and then Start. That...

You may have tapped the SUBMIT key at the wrong time there. Respond to this posting and continue your question. Don't get into the habit of going back and patching old work. Those are impossible to follow.

There is one app that sound like it might work. Chris's Compressor. He designed it so he could listen to opera in the car. It works almost exactly like a broadcast compressor. No matter what you put in, it delivers a levelled show. https://theaudacitytopodcast.com/chriss-dynamic-compressor-plugin-fo...
