Re: Dozens of "loose" files starting in e- in project folder

The AUP is not a sound file. The AUP file and the _...

Re: how to copy / paste a large audio file

Desperation method would be drag the file into one third (or smaller) and File > Export > Export selected audio. Repeat for each third (or smaller).

Re: Which computer is best for Audacity?

I will be using a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 between the computer and the guitars, microphones, keyboards, etc. Will be using? You're not live recording now? Behold the longest forum postings. They're almost all people trying to make top quality home voice recordings. If you can tell your computer is o...

Re: How to limit level under special decibel level

There is a Noise Gate plugin. https://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Nyquist_Effect_Plug-ins#Noise_Gate https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/customization.html#plug-ins Removing background noise or noise between words is very difficult. It's normal for the effect to sound mechanical or distorted. Much be...

Re: The simple, simple stuff.

Audacity gets picked because it's cheap, inexpensive and doesn't cost anything. But it's not push and go software. It's a fully qualified production editor. Isn't there a cassette player that transfers directly to MP3? I recall there was one turntable which could do that. Audacity isn't the only pro...

What effect(s) are you using?
Yes. Start there. It's possible you are just using the effect wrong.
