Re: Automating recording
Can stand-alone digital recorders do this? That's Sound Activated Recording. That can sound like a surveillance recording, not a pleasant lecture or theatrical presentation. It's generally choppy with smaller than normal gaps between phrases or at worst, ideas running into each other. "Thank y...

Re: Stereo->Mono in a Nyquist script?

Voice Memo or Music Memo if you have an iPhone. Voice Memo is easier to transfer sound, but Music Memo has better quality. Turn off all notifications and rings.record it on your smartphone

Don't put punctuation marks in filenames—especially with dates. Today is 20190729. Export to your desktop. Do not use Cloud Drives or any internet or network connected storage. If everything else fails, can you save it as an Audacity Project? That's File > Save rather than File > Export . If the com...

Re: Looking for a feature
I have this awful feeling you want us to take recording in a barn and make it sound like a clean, clear studio.
Not so far. If you find someone who can do that, let us know, 'k?

Re: Looking for a feature
We can't take echoes out of a track, but if you want a theatrical solution, you make two identical tracks one above the other. Apply echo to one as needed and then fade between them. Re: Gain/signal suddenly FAR too high
whether the cloudlifter perhaps can experience a sudden spike in power Maybe not in the way you think. A Cloudlifter is an in-line volume booster to make up for the RE20 being a Dynamic (moving coil) Microphone and naturally having high quality, but "restrained," "gentle" volume...

Re: Clipped at .5
Did you check for Clipping/Overload? That error can give you harsh, crunchy sound on emphasized words and sometimes ticking and clicking depending on the microphone system. This kind of error can easily make it past audiobook mastering and inspection, but ACX has two different inspections. They have...

Re: Audio percussive, booming?
Right, but that's after the radio processing has its way with the sound. Note one of those guys is a mush-mouth and it takes you a second or two to understand what he said. The people with clear, slightly punched delivery sound fine. But slightly punched delivery may not be the best thing for hours ...
