Re: Microphone picking up neighbor's AC

You've got an amazing voice by the way, Koz.
Thanks but it's mainly a monotone and puts people to sleep. I'm better than warm milk. Really.

Re: Microphone picking up neighbor's AC

The "Tyrion" sample from last night was me at my "best" - no ac humming, as much silence as I could muster. And it sailed straight through mastering. So now you know the goal and know that it is possible using published techniques and tools. Now you also know what studios do. Yo...

Re: selecting multiple trks

Oh, there's another one. Don't just keep Saving to one show, either. That's also a single point of failure. If Audacity freezes and blows this show away, you can always go back to My_Multi_Track_Production-2019-08-06. Make sure Audacity is done saving before you do anything else or shut down the com...

Re: burned CD from Audacity is loaded with noise

We have about a million directions to go, but we need to know what you have. If you're doing single voice capture or something from a single microphone, you may be able to just split your two damaged tracks and delete one of them. The two tracks (blue waves) are not necessarily broken, they just rea...

Re: selecting multiple trks

Yeah, that's one of the less exciting features of the Audacity UNDO. It undoes each inspection and each movement as well as each effect, process and correction. You don't realize how many things you did until you have to undo them all. Just a note that's not by accident. Audacity makes a complete co...

Re: Chris's Dynamic compressor

Chris's Compressor doesn't like running off the end of a job. It's a look-ahead compressor and if it can't find anything to look ahead to, it sometimes it freaks out. There's no easy fix in software, but you can duplicate the last few seconds of the performance and jam it on the end to give the soft...

MyCorder
Describe exactly what you're recording with. Neither of can find a "MyCorder". Describe the microphone and the connections. Maker names and part numbers are good.

Re: selecting multiple trks

Are they mono now? Press and hold Control while you click in the control point on each track you want to include. The track should toggle on and off each time you click on the same track. In other words, it should work like Windows. I take it you already know the control point shifted multiple times...

Re: burned CD from Audacity is loaded with noise

I import the original recording into Audacity, it automatically makes two different waves of blue. Right there, as a test: Select the track (button on the left) > Tracks > Mix > Mix Stereo Down to Mono. That should give you one blue wave which is a summation of the original two. Play it. Is it unde...

Re: electronic chatter on recordings

Missed a piece. The cone goes out at a 45 degree angle to about 100 feet from the tower. Then it drops straight down. It's been a while since I did that kind of engineering.

Los Angeles doesn't have rain. I think it's a state law or something.
