Re: After Folder Name Change - I can't see the tracks I recorded

Change the name back. You can't change folder names outside of Audacity. The AUP file and the _DATA folder have to be named the same and they have to be the name you gave them inside Audacity. Do you remember what the name was?

Re: My recorded voice sounds higher than it is.

If you record a test on the Zoom built-in memory, you can listen to it right on the Zoom and make sure the Zoom isn't broken.

Re: My recorded voice sounds higher than it is.

I have actually never used the Zoom (yet) as anything but an interface. Maybe it's time to start. Using the Zoom stand-alone is a terrific way to get around computer interface problems. My H1n has a sound meter as part of its display and as long as I don't go nuts with theatrical emphasis or other ...

Re: Dragging and dropping a file into Audacity in Windows locks up Explorer

Why is Audacity the only program that acts this way? Because it's the only one that's not a corporation. Audacity is produced to work on plain versions of each of three operating systems by a limited development staff. If you have a unicorn in one of those three, then you may get odd results. Koz

Re: Freezes. Work lost.

The only solution is to restart the Mac You can't close Audacity? Are you using cloud-based storage or network connected drives? What kind of Mac is it? I'm typing on a Mac Mini with large monitor and hardware network connection. What else is running? Look at the indicators on the Dock. This shows ...

Do you use Skype, Chat or Games? Are they all shut down while you're working?

Re: Issues with Mac Os 10.14.5

What else is running on your machines? I'm finding that newer programs aren't "programs." They install "environments" that insist on connecting to the developing company and The Cloud whether you want them to or not. All that activity takes up processor time and attention. Sound ...

Re: Split Stereo Dialogue

I'm going to be the wet blanket here. I don't think splitting is a very good idea. Regard surround-sound movies. Special effects and environment sound from all over the place and the theme music blasting away in Stereo. Know where the dialog is coming from? The Center speaker. All the dialog. I woul...

Re: Noise gate vs insert room sound

This patch system would have the same problems that Noise Gate does. High room noise behind your voice. Not between words, but during words. The design would give you chopped high noise words with low-noise, well-behaved interstitials. It would also be a nightmare to set up. Part of the attraction o...

Re: Trying to remove the pop when muting and unmuting the mic while recording

If splitting game audio from your voice is the only problem, then stop using the computer to record your voice. H1nTechnicalSetup.jpg Play the game into your headphones and announce into a stand-alone sound recorder. Transfer the live voice track to Audacity and edit out your bad sound. Mix with the...
