Re: please sample my narration

If the eventual goal is to publish for audiobooks, burn a ten second voice test according to this. We can do a lot better analysis with a standard voice test. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/TestClip/Record_A_Clip.html After your submission makes it through AudioLab, it has to pass Human Quality...

Audiolab
ACX AudioLab? Is the goal to read for audiobooks?

You don't have to send sound files to them unless you want to. Audacity publishes ACX-Check.

Re: please sample my narration

You want the cloud up and rain all over version? I think I can hear street noises back there in the first half. You're too close to the microphone. I can hear breath noises and p-popping in a couple of places. Your support sounds are too loud. That keypad sound effect at 3 seconds is nearly three ti...

Re: Rode Procaster dynamic mic loud hiss

Try correcting the long condenser sound file you sent me. Use Audiobook Mastering and DeSibilator at these settings, except change the Threshold number from -12 to -20. Screen Shot 2021-04-24 at 4.02.15 PM.png And then Noise Reduction of the Beast (6, 6, 6). When I did that, the sound came out clear...

Re: Popping in Audacity Audio Playback

Can you tell by careful and repeated inspection of a small section, that the popping is happening in the same place every time? Do you use Skype, Zoom or other chat app? Does it still do that if you temporarily change the recording setting to something other than "loopback." Pick built-in ...

Macro Manager

I just noticed this. Macro Manager doesn't follow the Add/Remove model?

I'm not complaining. Just making sure nothing is broken.

Re: No Fast forward or Rewind

I don't know how we got here. If there isn't enough information in a post, we go with the most likely answer and keep going until someone stops us. Open up your work in Audacity. Use the Zoom tools to get closer and further away from the individual notes and music events. https://manual.audacitytea...

Re: Rode Procaster dynamic mic loud hiss

should I try it with the 48v off?? Could that be the solution? Dynamic microphones can't "see" phantom power because of the way they're wired. It doesn't make any difference to them. ...supposedly it's (FetHead) similar to a cloudlifter, There are on-line podcasts with people comparing Cl...

Re: Delay in headphones only when recording

So close. Which Rode and which Focusrite? You can't listen to the computer for live monitoring. Plug the headphones into the Focusrite and set monitor ON (depending on which Focusrite) and turn Audacity Playthrough off in Preferences. This shows up in overdubbing and musical performances because you...

Re: Updated De-Clicker and new De-esser for speech

Ding!

Default frequencies are 3000 and 13000. Try those first.

This will check your hearing. 13000 is getting into the high-pitch tonal range where older people lose it.

WHAT?

I SAID 13000 IS GETTING.........
