Re: Screaming kids in audio of recorded sermons/lectures
does Audacity have tools to let me analyse a short bit of audio for frequency distribution Two of them. You can turn the timeline into a rainbow that gives a rough indication of pitch distribution. Black arrow drop-down on the left > Spectrogram View . Pull the timeline taller to see more. And the ...

Re: Batch processing on multiple folders?
will be correct if i ask/request this there? You could, yes. Being professionally "glass half empty," I can see problems with making a tool like this too handy. One wrong move or command in the wrong place and you could destroy your machine. rm *.* comes to mind. Destroy everything you ca...

Re: Screaming kids in audio of recorded sermons/lectures
most of our speakers happen to be men so I don't imagine their voices have much in this register? Nice try. Most intelligence or expression happens in the 3KHz range, man or woman. There is the Noise Gate, but that is just going to poke holes in the performance. I don't know we have the inclination...

Re: Recording 3 mics with Behringer UMC404HD
I've inherited this setup from a friend of mine (before leaving country) and he was successfully recording all three mics with ease. Drop him/her a note and ask how they did it. It's possible they're going to say something like: "I just downloaded the drivers and it started working. That will ...

Re: Recording 3 mics with Behringer UMC404HD
Beware of the Forum Effect. Nobody posts about how beautifully everything worked. From what I read here on the forum, very few people are successfully multitack recording with Audacity.

Bingo. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/PhaseReversingMics.jpg That will work with most dynamic microphones. That's Electro-Voice 635As in the picture. That extra thing in the leg of one microphone is a phase reverser. It exactly reverses the sound signal such that anything that appears on both mi...

Re: Screaming kids in audio of recorded sermons/lectures
Can anyone suggest any ways I might lesson the impact of this, semi-automatically? The short answer is no. We can't separate voices from each other in a mixed show. You noticed the ear's sensitivity to baby's screaming. That's not an accident. Ear sensitivity peaks around 3000Hz. I use "baby s...

Re: Sound Activated Recording ...
You still have to convert timeline time to real time.
Audacity doesn't make a very good Surveillance Recorder. That's your Google Search Term.
