Re: Numark Stereo io
The Numark Stereo io claims to be a USB interface, but I can't find good enough pictures to confirm that. We have to just believe them. It's also apparently only available Previously-Owned... Close Audacity. Set everything up with the Numark Stereo io plugged into the computer and let it settle for...

Re: Recording Device only option is Built-in Microphone
13"? The 13 inch had a setup service where it tried to get the one connection to do everything. Apple (upper left) > System Preferences > Sound. Somewhere in those settings should be the ability to make the single connection be stereo for recording. Then you need a cable much like this one. htt...

Re: How to create realistic AM bandwith radio effect
So you want the simulation in case a job comes up.I was just looking for a way to simulate the captured broadcast signal on audio of my choice. The result could as easily be used in a video game, motion picture, or just as is to demonstrate free software power.

Re: Can't get iShowU or Soundflower to work with Audacity
I'm pretty sure SoundFlower's utility vanished with the change to 64-bit.
iShowU was supposed to be the replacement according to this posting.

Re: How to create realistic AM bandwith radio effect
I can think of more evil reasons to want that. You're trying to fool someone into thinking there's a radio broadcast where none existed. Finding background on questions like that is not the worst idea. Sometimes the poster will go down a rabbit hole with odd assumptions when we may know far simpler ...

Re: ACX audiobook: hiss / whine from my laptop's wheezy fan
I don't know how or when it suddenly clicked, but maybe after listening to myself so much I learnt to slow down and try and enjoy the text, and only speed up if there was an action scene. That's all theatrical and between you, the client and ACX. Audacity doesn't have an acting filter (frequently r...

Re: How to create realistic AM bandwith radio effect
I don't know of any plugin or filter which can do that. I'm prompted to ask why we're doing this. That post reads like an encyclopedic description of every distortion in the history of broadcast radio. Theater effects are normally carried with two or three noises all run through a 5KHz low pass filt...

Re: ACX audiobook: hiss / whine from my laptop's wheezy fan
I can't identify any particular noise other than a gentle background hash. I applied the mastering tools and the clip easily came in passing the technical requirements. Noise is in the -70dB range with no Noise Reduction which should be fine. The only thing left is theatrical tests. That's where you...
