Audacity 2.3.2 and the upcoming 2.3.3 do not have RMS Normalize native, so wide distribution of the Macro, though valuable, will have to wait until it is.

Re: Time Shift NOT working
Shift-Record and Record is the difference between starting a fresh, new track and laying the new voice at the end of an existing track. Audacity used to always start a new track when you press Record which is useful in overdubbing, but everybody hated it because they wanted new work to always appea...

Re: Time Shift NOT working
It sounds like you're not selecting the tracks. See the SELECT button to the left of each track? Also see in the illustration, the top track is selected and is a different shade than two and three? If I Time Shift right now, only the top track will move. I use the Time Shift tool to move the new cop...

Re: Constnt Crashing. Unrecoverable projects.
Is it time for me to give up and try a different program?? That's my guess. Although we would really like to know why it's crashing. Audacity freezes or vanishes from the screen? Its just a 30min audio mixtape That should not cause Audacity to fall over no matter how you got there. Post back if you...

Re: laptop recording with laptop
Don't fall in love with that idea. USB hubs do time sharing to get everything in and live sound can't time share. Find a way to get a dedicated USB connection.I think one way is to use a USB hub

Re: "Stereo" vs. Left and Right speakers
I'm surprised nobody mentioned echo and reverb. That's the classic way of turning flat mono into [[[[[[Dimentional Stereo]]]]]]]. If you do it just right, you can be playing Disney Hall instead of in your garage. I've never converted a performance, but I understand you split the mono into two monos,...

Re: latency problems wont go away
Left out a step. SOLO the click track on the second pass so Audacity doesn't try to send you two tracks. How did it come out? I'm on the edge of my seat.

Re: "Stereo" vs. Left and Right speakers
It gets stickier than that because you can't have a vocal microphone in the same room with an acoustic guitar. There will always be cross leakage, and once you have a cross like that, your production options drop way down. So ideally you would send your electric guitar to be recorded without your he...

Re: latency problems wont go away
There is a pretty common way to mess this up. How many things do you have running right now? Are you sure? Shift-Shutdown and wait for it to get done. This is a more thorough method of clearing out all the apps than just Shutdown or Restart. Start and don't let anything else start . Still have laten...

Re: latency problems wont go away
I think the first thing I would do is stop using bluetooth headphones. Bluetooth is a separate digital encoding and transmission process and all those steps take time. So the sound Audacity is sending to you and the music you're hearing are different. Super convenient, but different. I was about to ...
