We get into trouble every time a scientist tries to use Audacity for data jobs. Audacity is not a WAV editor. It's an audio production manager and the goal is to sound good, not have every byte line up perfectly. Much of the time they don't line up and experiments can give unexpected results.

Re: HELP! Step by Step ACX Requirements
I would question whether a plugin is required to replace a macro of 4 lines length Except his code is stand-alone with Audacity 2.3.2 and the upcoming 2.3.3 and the Macro isn't. We pay attention to changes that may generate even more forum traffic and questions than we already have. "How come ...

Re: HELP! Step by Step ACX Requirements
His code is not ready for prime time yet. It's his first project and the code creates some significant sound damage, but he's close.

Re: Audiobook mastering (In Development and Test)
This is a very well behaved sound test. Those distortions may get worse with a New User and a straight-out-of-the-box microphone.

Re: Audiobook mastering
This will need to hang until Steve (Senior Elf) gets back from holiday. He's one of the humans who can speak code. The code includes proper name, time and date, so I'm happy. I noticed "brick wall" mentioned in the code. Effect > Limiter: Soft is used intentionally in existing mastering be...

Re: Audiobook mastering
Did it work? Apply conventional tools according to the instructions and then run your code on the same sample. It seems to be a race. Neil Darlow produced Macro code for using the existing tools in one step. https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=377215#p377215 The only reason this isn't a g...

Re: Exporting to MP3
Either export your work as WAV (Microsoft (16-bit) or Save an Audacity Project (or both). Then upgrade.

Re: Exporting to MP3
Don't go mad.
Audacity 2.3.2 has export to MP3 built-in.

This isn't just a fluffy recommendation. Some early versions of Audacity had serious export problems.
