Re: "Normalizing" track volumes - negative db

As DVDDoug above, managing music can be entertaining and not in a good way. Producing a recording that matches a live performance isn't the goal any more. Apply corrections so the overall loudness is higher—sometimes much louder—without seeming to affect the entertainment value. This just kills peop...

Re: "Normalizing" track volumes - negative db

http://kozco.com/pix/SoundLevelMeter.jpg That's a Sound Pressure Level Meter. That's the one you put in front of your rock band or jet engine to measure how loud it is. It works in Plus numbers. Re: Paste Special?

So Punch Copy makes a clipboard in my abundant, spacious RAM and Punch Paste lets me select a tiny place in a show and replace it precisely.

Re: How to increase bit rate on mp3 file to 192 bit for ACX

ACX doesn't do exhaustive analysis of your work and they won't discuss it with you. They usually find one thing wrong and bounce your post. You could have other things wrong and you can go 'round and 'round for a long time. You can post a reading test here and we'll beat it up. We have similar hardw...

Re: How to increase bit rate on mp3 file to 192 bit for ACX

ACX Submission is required to be MP3 at a minimum constant bit rate of 192. It is strongly suggested you do it in mono (one blue wave) and not stereo (two blue waves). When you get your work ready. File > Export > Export as MP3. Screen Shot 2019-09-25 at 14.24.51.png If you submit in mono, Channel M...

Paste Special?

I think this is possible but I can't find it. Select a large shlog (techincal term) of clean room tone. Now select a tiny portion of show and paste only that portion of room tone that fits in the show. Duration of the show does not change. Do this completely automatically without knowing the fine de...

Re: Loud buzzing noise on playback

This video goes through the variations of the UK tester.

The simple testers have the oddity that if they say something is good, it may or may not be good, but if they say it's bad, call the electrician and be careful what you touch.

Re: Loud buzzing noise on playback

It's good to remember that in home audio, the shield or outer conductor on plugs and sockets is common. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/GuitarCable-500T.jpg In this simple guitar cable, the metalic tip contains the sound and the long metalic cylinder behind that is the protective shield and the o...

Re: Remove bird calls

If they're between voices, you can suppress them with careful editing, copying and pasting background sound. It's a long, delicate process, but it can be done. If they're at the same time as the voices, you're stuck.

Re: VSTs

Music connection to a laptop is usually the worst problem people have. Why don't we work on that first? If you can't get that working, then anything else you do is a waste of time.
