Re: Input Low USB
Exactly, and the way those tiny adapters work, they share the 5 volts, so the microphone is actually getting something like 3 volts or so. This on a 48 volt microphone. To their credit, the company strongly objects to using the tiny USB adapter (from memory). I can sense Marketing and Promotion gett...

Re: Making mp3 quality ringtones better
The speakers on the computer are designed to reproduce music and voice. The sound system on a smartphone is designed to reproduce ring tones, so the problem is recursive. I haven't googled this yet, but I strongly suspect you would have to send your tone through a filter such as Effect > Equalizatio...

Re: Input Low USB
Did you get the instructions to tell you it's side-fire? I found instructions to use it end-fire. How, exactly, is the mic connected to your computer? If that's the accurate collection the poster bought, it's this USB adapter. Screen Shot 2019-10-02 at 2.00.08.png They supply 5 volts, at least mine ...

Re: Noise reduction.
I believe the profile setting "sticks" after the first time as long as you don't close Audacity. So if you get the profile once, application would only be Select All and Noise Reduction action step with the reduction settings. That's why I said Auto Profile would reduce Noise Reduction to ...

Re: Input Low USB
We've had trouble with that microphone before, not because it's cheap exactly, but because to get the price down, they leave pieces out. It's a 48 volt phantom powered microphone and the computer adapter only supplies 5 volts. They say in the instructions it will work like that, but the sound won't ...

Re: Envelope tool at max
You may not need that. There is a plugin called Level Speech whose job it is to even out variations in voice.

Re: Noise reduction.
You could make the Profile step optional. That would make Noise Reduction a lot more like other tools. I have a very old license of SoundSoap that does Noise Reduction credibly with no Profile step—probably the same way the cellphone does it. Either any constant sound past a certain time must be noi...

Re: Input Low USB
I have a USB microphone. Telling us which microphone is a good start. We have to build your studio in our imaginations and the more information, the better. Has it ever worked? Home microphones work in low volume because it's safe. The chance of hitting perfect recording volume at home is almost ze...

I can't prove this, but I suspect strongly if this is your third or fourth successful book, it either doesn't go through testing, or it goes through on greased skis.

Re: Audacity stops recording after about six seconds. [solved]
I'm trying to record audio that's coming from my PC Most people don't get a message like you got, but Audacity will drop dead if it loses the connection or the data stream. It took me a while to recognize the pattern. 3 to 5 seconds is what happens when you lose the internet connection (in the back...
