Re: What effects were used on a track/file

see what effects were used on a track No. And that's a cousin to our inability to take effects out of a performance. Once you close Audacity, the UNDO vanishes and you're stuck. Audacity Projects do not help. Projects don't save UNDO. You want to know how to recreate an effect you heard? We can gue...

Re: MP3 to MIDI export

If you're on Audacity 2.3.2 or later, you don't need Lame. The Lame software makes MP3s. That's built-in now.

Re: MP3 to MIDI export

How to create a MIDI file?
This pops up every so often. Why do you need the MIDI file? What job is this?

Re: installed ffmpeg library 2.2.2 yet cannot export as mp4

No idea than why i can't still export as mp4. Isn't an audio-only MP4 an M4A? MP4 is a video format. Audacity exporting video formats is an on-going developers discussion. Maybe FFMpeg has a trick for this. My impression is you have to do something with the video settings so as not to produce odd-d...

Re: How do you catch those sneaky 'extraneous' saliva sounds?

Are there any tricks people have discovered to help eliminate them in the first place? Are you using stiff noise reduction? Sometimes that can sound like it's boosting crisp sounds and making lip tick sounds worse. Many home microphones have a crisp boost because that sounds more "professional...

Re: Audio Sample: Noise Issues. (2.3.2)

Are you sensing your presentation and relaxed story-telling improving as we do this? There is one not-so good thing that happens with new readers. They get to the end of the first book and realize how awful the first few chapters were and read them again. Fortunately, that generally only happens onc...

Re: Audio Sample: Noise Issues. (2.3.2)

Mac Auto Update Apple (upper left) > System Preferences > App Store (there may be other pathways). MacUpdate.jpg I get the notifications for updates and patches. I will do the updates, for example, for Safari or any of my apps. But I am not doing the Catalina system update until the problems are st...

Re: Audio Sample: Noise Issues. (2.3.2)

There is a Room Tone trick. If you get a two-second chunk of good, pure tone you really like, you can Copy/Paste edit that into much longer chunks for all the places ACX requires longer times. No, you really don't have to hold your breath for five seconds at the beginning or end of each chapter. Don...

Re: Audio Sample: Noise Issues. (2.3.2)

That will do it. That's well behaved enough not to need Noise Reduction at all. Tonal balance is good with no p-popping or other odd problems. Volume is perfect. I bet I can make the noise go down a little more. The Room Tone at the beginning of your clip is supposed to be just the sounds of your ro...
