Re: Editing and improving chamber choir recordings

I'm good with that. Any compression or other processing you do is going to make the room sound funny. That leaves you with minor tone controls and even that could be overkill. There is a minor haystack tonal bump between 1900 and 3500 and I think that would be my first correction. That seems to be p...

This is better than daytime television. I'm making popcorn.

Re: real time vocal removal

Audacity doesn't do anything in real time other than Record, Play and Timer.

Even in post production—after the fact, Vocal Removal uses clever management of perfect Left and Right sound to do cancellation. Without the stereo show, we're stuck.

So no, this is not the software for you.

Re: Quality drops during editing

Many people run into the Change Pitch problem in the "Make Me Into An Announcer" job. That's actually two problems. The actual pitch change is ratty and not all parts of the voice changes between people. You can't tell people apart when whispering, but the instant they start speaking, the ...

Re: Quality drops during editing

I mean, something like linear. Right. Change speed works like dragging your finger on the record. It's not perfect, but it creates minor theatrical errors, not content errors. Change Duration and Change Pitch have to take sound sound apart and put it back together—oh, and finish in the same day you...

Can you program? Would you like to volunteer? Do you know anybody who can program and would like to volunteer? Please note that at this exact time, Windows is having problems as well. Oh, and we'll be preparing Audacity 2.3.3, already in progress. Can you roll your machine back to Mojave? Koz

Re: Issue with a hiss/whine in the background of some recordings

Oh, and don't let the recorder apply any effects or corrections. I'm sure they work fine, but if you don't like the effect, there's no way to take it out. ACX is looking for distracting effects and corrections.

Re: Issue with a hiss/whine in the background of some recordings

I'm not a fan of the foam balls. They do work but they tend to muffle everything. Their two chief attributes are being cheap and you can wad one up and stuff it in your pocket next to your phone—without scratching the phone. I know of three good techniques. The tennis racket, the tea strainer and cl...

Tried doing the same with another Nyquist effect called Pop Mute and I am having the same problem there as well.
Have you ever gotten any plugins to work?

Re: Newbie-how to have distortion whilst recording

Checked the forum but couldnt really find an answer Audacity records whatever you send it. It doesn't apply effects, filters or corrections during recording/in real time. That's why it didn't show up in the instructions. I'm also thinking of recording via mic to the amp If you don't have a micropho...
