Re: Landing *JUST* outside of ACX requirements...
Do you have the Solo all the way up? If you do, then that's the limit. Audacity defaults to unity gain if it gets a digital signal, so the signal coming out of the Solo has to be correct. Can you get the Solo knob to flash green while you're recording? Scarlett considers that natural and normal volu...

Re: How to set time format and db format
I don't think the units used on the timeline are adjustable in Audacity. That's why I think it's time to have a chat. It's not unusual for announcers to have above and below the line blue waves that don't match. I used to pick out a favorite news team without listening just from the timeline. He ha...

Re: How to set time format and db format
Each of those time windows under the timeline can be switched to many different formats. Screen Shot 2019-11-08 at 16.04.17.png Thank you. But how do you find db level when you see on 0 and -60? Play the work and watch the cursor indicator and bouncing light sound meters. This may be a good time to ...

Re: Recover session
I lost a session How? How long was the show? Do you have an AUP file with the same name as the _DATA folder? http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MyMusicAUP-MyMusic_DATA.jpg Use your computer search system. It's important you find it if there is one. Did you change the name of the _DATA folder or the...

Re: Can't find "Clip Fix"
This may seem to be a little scattershot, but Audacity started out life a good, general purpose audio editor and show manager. Only later did we discover how handy it would be for audiobook production. That's why the tools are scattered all over the place and also why you need the Audacity 2.3.2 ver...

Re: Can't find "Clip Fix"
Effect > Equalization , Effect > RMS Normalize , Effect > Limiter and Analyze > ACX Check are all separate tools. RMS Normalize and ACX Check are custom tools and need to be installed in Audacity. There's instructions where to get the tools from in the instructions for Mastering. That's one reason ...

Re: Reduce low level audio tool
Noise Reduction is a two-step tool and doesn't work well with Macros. Also, I don't think Macros can make decisions: If this, then do that.I cannot automate noise reduction with a macro, its still not been fixed

Re: Headroom and recording level
And that folds us back to here. You need to pay attention to your environment and your performance. A lot of those "ideal" rules apply to studio recording. If you're recording at home, you have a lot less elbow room to make mistakes. The longest forum message ever, 39 chapters and over a y...

Re: Can't find "Clip Fix"
We publish an ACX Mastering suite of tools. They guarantee Peak and RMS (Loudness) and if you recorded in a quiet room, Noise should pass. Those are the three technical standards for AudioBooks. https://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Audiobook_Mastering It's only three tools. That's the explanation of w...

Re: Headroom and recording level
Mixing considerations are different. Audacity doesn't overload when you're mixing. It uses 32-bit floating sound format internally which has effectively no top end. The bouncing sound meters monitor everything all the time unless you stop them and you can use those to set mix volume while you're wor...
