Re: New Audacity Setup - recommendations?
This is a broadcast recording I shot. The setup on the left is Audacity on a Macbook Pro with a sound mixer and microphone. It's two recordings. The setup on the right is the client's own stand-alone recorder—or most of it. He started to tear it apart before I could stop him. We double recorded the ...

Re: file will not let break it up into chapters.
a large book file .mp3 into separate chapter files. Are you publishing or listening? When you edit in Audacity, some actions may require Audacity to save the whole show as UNDO. If you have a massive production file, Audacity may just run out of room. You will probably need to divide the show up in...

Re: Automatically set a Timer Recording
Audacity makes a terrible surveillance recorder. Your requirements are an exact match. Audacity can't make decisions. IF end of recording, THEN start a new one. IF the drive is full, THEN stop. Audacity can't start a new recording and save the old one at the same time. Managing that much data would ...

Is the voice track stereo? Two blue waves?
What happens if you Tracks > Mix > Mix Stereo to Mono on the voice track.

Re: Best Settings for Podcast AND light files?
What is the best bitrate not to lose quality and have the file being not so heavy? You should be careful to save all your original performances in perfect quality WAV uncompressed files. That will be your backup if anything happens to your Project files before you post the podcast. Do all your edit...

Re: Limiting Peak Volume without affecting anything else
There's a word on soundproofing, too. Obsessive Engineer knows that you don't need to have soundproof panels, burlap and fiberglas®, or egg-crate panels on the walls. Flynwill (an elf on the forum) designed a recording studio in the middle of a warehouse where our company used to be. He didn't use b...

Re: Limiting Peak Volume without affecting anything else
You may have a secondary problem because your shop is not soundproofed. When you drop the cherry veneer on the table, you will get the drop and impact sound, but also the echo of that drop bouncing around the room. The echo is lower volume and may not get soaked up in the limiter. That can give you ...
