Re: Recording other than at the end of the file
One of our audiobook tools is a process to record a short sound test and post it on the forum. We can do a quick evaluation. There's just nothing like reading a whole book and submitting it only to discover you need to start over. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/TestClip/Record_A_Clip.html First ...

Re: Recording other than at the end of the file
You could do that in Audible, but this is Audacity. Audacity is the production editor and Audible (ACX) is the publisher. That's one way. What many people do is create an audio mark such as clap or whistle, or set a timeline label, announce the corrections as many times as needed and keep going. Go ...

Re: Noise reduction impossible to execute- noise profile
Noise Reduction used to be called Noise Removal, but too many people were expecting it to remove noise to zero."Noise reduced" rather than completely "gone".

Re: PLEASE HELP!!! Can I remove echo from my audiobook recording?
Raw File Sample.
I applied all the corrections to that sample and it seems to have noise pumping which is what happens when the voice and corrections get out of step with each other. The words have noise tails. You can submit that if you want, but I think you should read it fresh.

Re: PLEASE HELP!!! Can I remove echo from my audiobook recording?
Constant 192kbps, but what should the "Channel Mode" be? Joint stereo, Stereo or Force export to mono? If you start your readings in mono, one blue wave on the timeline, none of those settings do anything. I'm not a fan of Forced Export to Mono because that means your WAV Edit Master and ...

Re: PLEASE HELP!!! Can I remove echo from my audiobook recording?
Now. To the original question. What effects did you add to your original readings? If they were Amplify, Normalize or any of the other pure volume changers, you may be able to just apply the above collection or tools and have it work. If you started out with one of the dynamic processors such as Noi...

Re: PLEASE HELP!!! Can I remove echo from my audiobook recording?
I just now noticed something. Your post doesn't start with pure room noise. There is a tiny pop in the first small fraction of a second. You can get rid of it by selecting a sliver of the far-left time line and delete it.

That better? VoiceTestMastered-NR-Gate.wav I added a gentle Effect > Noise Gate to the end of Mastering and gentle Noise Reduction. I used these Gate settings: Screen Shot 2019-11-23 at 6.49.05.png And got this: Screen Shot 2019-11-23 at 6.56.15.png Noise Gate is not included in the normal Audacity ...

Re: PLEASE HELP!!! Can I remove echo from my audiobook recording?
I have to drop in and out to perform Real Life. ACX Testing ACX Audiobook Acceptance happens in two layers. The first test is simple technical compliance: Is the submission loud enough? Does it have any overload damage, etc. It tests the same things that Audacity ACX Check does. ACX Check was writte...

Does Select actually do something? Does this: Screen Shot 2019-11-23 at 5.13.57.png Turn into this: Screen Shot 2019-11-23 at 5.14.11.png Does it make any difference if you drag-select a small portion of the show instead of Select All ? Does Select All work with any effects? Make sure you have your ...
