Re: quickly see gain value without action?
Also what exactly do you mean by "mob memory" That's where everybody has seen something that looks a lot like Hover Info and would be willing to swear absolutely that it is, or was, a thing. I have two working copies of 2.0.3 and neither of them seems to have Hover Info, whether or not I ...

Re: quickly see gain value without action?
I went back to 2.0.3 and none of them (I didn't hit them all) have hover info.Audacity used to do that
If somebody asked me cold whether I'd seen this or not, I would have said yes. Mob Memory?

Now it`s doing something new. You're a candidate for a student or even professional for hire to help you. We can continue to troubleshoot through the forum, but if you have forever changing problems, this might take a while. Do you have Windows set for Auto Update? The last few Windows updates crea...

Re: Panning not working properly on Win10
Play that. ChannelTest.wav That has noise on the left channel and nothing at all on the right. Screen Shot 2019-11-30 at 8.00.28.png If your system plays anything on the right, then something after Audacity is mixing the two channels. Problems like this aren't unusual. There is a microphone recordin...

Re: Import Curve for Effect > Filter Curve is Gray
So the work-around would be open the .XML in a text editor and transfer the control points manually?

Re: Correcting Skype recording without headphones
Recording Skype conversations is very easy. By what method, exactly? Recording Skype is a common question on the forum. There are some brute-force methods, but nothing easy from one computer. Are you following an instructional posting or YouTube video? We should remember this is a forum , users hel...

Re: Correcting Skype recording without headphones
I don't want to make the discussions non-genuine. Auto Ducking can produce pumping and noise artifacts which can sound profoundly non-genuine. The audiobook producers have a thing against "Distractions" (their word). Anything that takes the listener out of the experience is to be avoided....

Re: Mountain River Hiss. Best way to remove?
why it is set to -3.5dB? The ACX audiobook standard for sound peaks (either up or down) is not to exceed -3dB. Conversion from WAV to MP3 can cause sound errors, so I picked -3.5dB as a mastering goal. Nobody can hear a half dB "error." It's worth the error because the first step in Audio...

Re: Correcting Skype recording without headphones
I do not yet understand about "automatic ducking." You key a music track to a voice, so that the music volume "ducks down" whenever the announcer speaks, for example. It takes two tracks, the key announcer and the background. Your key voice and the track to be patched are the sa...

Re: Correcting Skype recording without headphones
I noticed that the volume of Bill's voice was getting less and less as time went on. That's one reason I wanted you to talk about how you're recording Skype. That's not easy. I can't account for that volume change other than serious instability when you cross sound channels by accident. You also ha...
