Audacity forum has far snappier response times than other forums. Please post something so we know you're still breathing.

We can't easily solve noise problems without hearing them.

I believe that's Audacity > Preferences > Recording > [x]Detect Dropouts . For whatever reason, your Mac stopped following the show. That's not redundant. We have had posters on their third or fourth book by recording in a hired studio. They appear here when they have trouble recording at home.
