Re: Measuring SNR?
No. As specified in WCAG 2.0, it measures RMS (z-weighted). As a cousin to that, which noise are you using? They come in colours (pink, white, brown, etc) and each one has a different affect on the clarity of the voice. And that's only if you're using all-frequency noises (spring rain the trees shs...

Re: Measuring SNR?
compare the quality and clarity of the recordings. That may be stickier than you think. It's possible to prepare a voice work with good signal to noise ratio and trash voice quality if the artist got the noise value by aggressive Noise Reduction in post production. Noise Reduction affects everythin...

Re: Having trouble importing long MP3 files
There can be magic with long compressed files. Audacity doesn't edit MP3. It imports MP3 files, decompresses them to their original size and then saves them in the Audacity high quality format which is even larger. If you start to run out of drive space Audacity may not have enough space to do all t...

Re: Having trouble importing long MP3 files
Can you play the file in Windows Media or any other music player? How do you know it's an MP3 file? Somebody said so, or do you have Windows file name extensions revealed? Audacity will open MP3 files just fine, but not other file types. Sometimes it will guess at an unknown file type which can soun...

Re: How to determine in Audacity if a track is mono or stereo?
Is it possible that a monophonic sound be mixed by Audacity into two channels and as such lead me to believe that it's a stereo track? Sorta. I know you're searching for the one-button solution, but there may not be one. You can start with a single blue wave mono track, duplicate it so now you have...

I DID manage to do a successful rollback to an earlier restore point Which can mean you can't do Windows updates any more. Do you have Windows set to Auto Update? That can be a time bomb. Further, it is posted that Windows sometimes doesn't ask you and just does updates whether you want them or not...

Re: How to determine in Audacity if a track is mono or stereo?
There are other variations. If you have two blue waves that are identical, you can have Two-Track Mono. Watch if the bouncing sound meter always bounces exactly the same way for both tracks. Real stereo bounces differently. There is an odder variation where the two blue waves are a different volume ...

Re: unable to overdub
Issues again. And I still think you need to get local help in your town or city. People have not been galloping to your assistance because nobody has any clear idea what's wrong. From your description you have a profoundly unstable machine. That's difficult to fix on a voluntary forum across multip...

Re: ACX Dang that noise floor
Hopefully it's close enough to pass. I don't think anybody at ACX is going to sit and listen to every word of every submission (in my opinion). It's a much better business model to inspect new users in great detail and back away to casual spot checking as the ability and fame of the reader improves...
