Re: What causes delay in recording on Audacity

"Just to use all the English words. You record using the built-in microphone and get the seven second delay." You didn't say the built-in microphone experienced the delay. You just said you recorded with it. We learn not to put words in the poster's mouth. haven't gotten this reported by ...

Re: Windows 10 update Noise

You can confirm a microphone shift by scratching.

Never blow into a microphone, but you can gently scratch it to see if it's active. Look up where your Surface Pro microphone is. Apparently, it wanders depending on model.

Re: Windows 10 update Noise

There was another one. Make sure you're still recording from your regular microphone. You can get distortions like that if you're recording from the Surface Pro's built-in microphone instead. One of the Windows Updates had problems with that. Looking.

Re: Windows 10 update Noise

If you didn't change anything else, then the update most likely changed Windows Sound Processing. It could add processing you used to have, or stop processing when it used to. https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=382821#p382821 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxnUjiGgBaI&feature=youtu....

Re: Creating a macro from the current steps

create the noise profile before running the Macro. And if you don't? When I try to run Noise Reduction without a Profile, I don't get the OK button. Does the Macro just stop, or worse, try to go around it? I swear there are posters who "think" they're running Noise Reduction and really ar...

Re: Creating a macro from the current steps

Unless someone corrects me, you can't easily put Noise Reduction inside a Macro. Macros can't make decisions (If This, Then Do That) and Noise Reduction Profile step demands that you tell it where typical or target noise is. If you don't supply a Profile from somewhere , Noise Reduction just stops w...

Re: Need to Delete Voice off Track

Don't know if its a Stereo track It would be good to find out. None of these tools work on a mono track, or two-track mono. Re: What causes delay in recording on Audacity

I'm out. Even wacky conspiracy theories and good diagnostic techniques don't cover this problem.

This is a forum. We can wait for someone who has similar problems.

Re: What causes delay in recording on Audacity

I've recorded with the built-in mics many times Just to use all the English words. You record using the built-in microphone and get the seven second delay. everything is on Mojave. Well, that narrows it right down to... ...nothing I can think of. First I've heard of a delay that long. As you discov...
