Re: Possibility of fixing glitchy [very bad] audio recording?
I'm out. I think that's too far gone. I think you're knocking on the door of Hollywood "magic." Transcribe the voices to paper scrips and have actors read them in a quiet room or studio. If you are one of the voices, that's one less actor. Have you ever heard of simul-speak? You listen to ...

Re: Best way to normalize or compress music volume
You might want to revisit Chris's Compressor. 1.2.6 is current last I looked. I use it with stiffer compression than is normal. The first control value is Compress ratio and I change that from the default 0.5 to a stiffer 0.77. When I do that, the shows come out very close to the local radio station...

Re: Distortion? Noise? Not sure
I did a recording yesterday. Of what? If this is Skype, Zoom or another chat app, the recommendation is get them to record the work. Zoom will record both sides on separate files if you ask them nice. If you're all wearing headphones as is recommended, you can get a good enough sound file for your ...

Any reason you didn't opt for the shotgun with the DeSibilator to get rid of the gritty SS sounds?

Re: Missing Audio Data Block Files
That brings you back to constructing the show by hand, matching up words and sentences with no guarantee of success.some of the au files listed there don’t exist...

Re: Confusion over Recording Devices labeled "loopback"
Computers have two basic sound channels. Play from the internet or a sound file to your speakers, and record from your microphone to a sound file or send to an internet task. That's it. There's no natural pathway between them and that's what you need to record internet shows. Something has to run th...

Re: Missing Audio Data Block Files
Since you have the AUP file, you can open that and try the order of the AU files listed there.

Re: Missing Audio Data Block Files
The AU files have intentionally scrambled filenames. If you have an edit in progress, you can't use the file time and date stamps to help you. The AU files are about six seconds long and if it's a stereo show, they alternate Left and Right sound. How long is the show? You see where I'm going with th...

Re: Play Button Won't Work. Frozen.
Audacity can do that when it can't figure out how to play to your speakers or headphones. It can do that if you have Wireless Headphones, for one common example. Go into Windows control panels or setups and see if your headphones or speakers are listed there. There have been several recent postings ...
