Re: Does anyone know what this sound is?
You can do conspiracy theories if you want, but I'm going with a slightly damaged cable connection when you dropped it. Unplug both ends of the USB cable and plug them both in again. Maybe twice. The year in the middle has nothing to do with it. There was a servicing elf that caught all sorts of abu...

Re: Passing RMS on Audacity 2.1.1
Do we know which Mac you have? Some of the smaller Macs do have fans that go on and off. We need to know where the microphone is if you have one.

Are you starting to get a good idea what the recording engineer would be doing?

Re: Passing RMS on Audacity 2.1.1
Dueling Posts. Next time you get the urge to spend money, post what you're going to do on the forum first . The goal for soundproofing is to be heavy. The Star moving blanket in the Amazon post weighs 3.2 pounds for shipping. That's what the ordinary blanket on my bed weighs. The moving blanket from...

Re: Passing RMS on Audacity 2.1.1
Rather than bedding blankets, I used furniture moving blankets. I bought my really heavy ones from a moving company in East Los Angeles. They're 17 pounds—two gallons of milk. https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=369938#p369938 I bought these later. https://www.harborfreight.com/72-inch-x-...

Re: Can't record 4 channels on Windows PC with Behringer UMC404HD
Your posts will not become visible until they are viewed by a forum elf. Don't double-post. We have a section of the forum for multi-channel work. Not all systems work in Audacity. It's not unusual for makers to have their products mount as collections of stereo devices so when they're connected col...

Re: Pomplamoose Sound
RCA 77-DX Those are fun. Those things were still in use decades after the 44 stopped being used. There's impedance and tonal adjustments on the bottom and that screw on the side shoves baffles and doors around the ribbon to get different patterns. You can hear them clunking into position as you tur...

Re: recording from iPhone to audacity
Google searches dance around this because in some US states recording phone calls is illegal. If you use a Skype connection on both ends, Skype has a service which will record your interview and send it to you. In some cases, it's an app on your machine. https://www.ecamm.com/mac/callrecorder/ I thi...
