Re: Saving an audacity file larger than 4gb?

One up side of high bitrate masters is the ability to downsample them to other formats with little or no damage. Certainly no audible damage. So you can always do that even you have a system that can't actually play them.

Re: Passing RMS on Audacity 2.1.1

Cardioid Cardioid (heart-shaped) points the sensitive part of the microphone to you. Omni tries to record the whole room—all directions, and bidirectional records you and whoever is behind the mic but not the sides. Speak into the company name. Is there an easier way to set that in Audacity rather t...

Re: Passing RMS on Audacity 2.1.1

If New Mic is the G-Track, then that may be all you need. I got very low noise level and a passing ACX Check noise of -69dB. No noise reduction. Screen Shot 2019-12-23 at 18.15.30.png This is after just the three mastering tools. It took me 20 seconds. Everything passes. No other corrections. Given ...

Re: How to make an audio silent in stereo, but play in mono?

The original process isn't quite right. It's not stereo any more, it's two track mono. It's also missing the right channel and if you listen in headphones it may make you seasick because the dimensional clues will be off. Like listening with the performers behind you. So it only plays in stereo if y...

Re: Audio drifts out of sync

You can have a much more serious sync problem if your computer skips tiny portions of the recording. That can be almost invisible on inspection, but the show you recorded and the show you got are different. The recording is shorter, and it doesn't easily respond to any of the general fixes. Dependin...

Re: Audio drifts out of sync

I believe having a mouse and headphones plugged in is actually what caused the problem when I tried Change Speed the first time My Opinion that's not true. Pointing devices and headphones are recommended for high quality editing and production. You may have noticed an odd connection such as ice cre...

Re: Saving an audacity file larger than 4gb?

You will, of course, be unable to resist the urge to break the show up into individual songs (or acts in the case of an opera). Do that at the WAV level and do it to a copy of the WAV transfer. We publish tutorials for that. https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tutorial_copying_tapes_lps_or_minidiscs...

Re: Saving an audacity file larger than 4gb?

There is one other layer to this. You didn't post how you would be listening to the work. If you have a Personal Music Player or music system in the car, it's perfectly acceptable to copy the WAV files to MP3 at high bit rate (quality) settings such as 192 or higher Constant Bit Rate. The MP3 files ...

Re: Saving an audacity file larger than 4gb?

There's no difference between opening it as a FLAC vs an AUP? There's a big difference. There is no AUP sound file. You are saving an Audacity Project which is a collection of files and folders. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MyMusicAUP-MyMusic_DATA.jpg A Project will save your individual track...

Re: Does anyone know what this sound is?

That's right up there with Rory Sutherland's idea of making the last five pills in a course of antibiotics a different colour. Same pills, but the completion success rate goes way up because of the clear goal.
