Re: Overdubbing questions : newbie

There are two Record keys. Regular "R" key and "Shift+R." One starts a new track and the other adds your voice to the old track.

You can change what the keys do in Audacity > Preferences > Recording > [X] Record On A New Track.

Re: Please check sound quality and advise

I am the one making too loud s noises?
If I was really doing my job, I would make a special polyester/wool blend sock that fits over your microphone to prevent Essing right at the beginning.

Re: Please check sound quality and advise

Do you hear the noise now? No. The background noise is perfect and the file, just as you posted it and after mastering, passes ACX Check easily. No noise reduction needed. You got lucky. Many home readers search for weeks (like me) to find their room noises. Both of your posts have been in stereo, ...

Re: Please check sound quality and advise

It's really close to submission quality, but you have background noise that is too loud. I boosted the noise intentionally to make it easier to hear. soundDemoVoice-noiseBoosted.wav What in your studio can make that noise? Air Conditioning, Room Fans, Computer Noises? There's actually two noises in ...

Re: Compressor settings for live music w/ a few sharp peaks

I can't hear any impact on the sound beyond the volume levels sounding more consistent That was the goal, yes. Listen to an audiobook chapter after chapter without having to adjust the volume, no matter how the work was originally read. I do find it interesting that tracks can have such different w...

Re: conversion from mP3/WAV to MIDI

Why do you need MIDI? Describe the job.

And no, it has nothing to do with Catalina. If you had an older machine we couldn't do it then, either.

Re: Audacity - new download - won't access microphone

Audacity is not natively supported under MacOS Catalina. You can force it to work by launching Audacity in a special command-line service (instead of clicking pictures). Desktop > Go > Applications > Utilities > Terminal That will give you a blank window to type or paste things in. https://forum.aud...

How about DC Offset in one channel of the mixer driving the UCA222 nuthouse? This will show up instantly when the poster reverses Left and Right inputs on the Behringer.

Re: Clipping issue. DJ mixer>Behringer UCA222>Macbook Pro

It looks like a profoundly unstable right channel. If someone paid you to make a normal consumer digital system do that, what would you do?

On the other hand, it only happens with specific mixer settings.

I can feel...pressing fingers to forehead...two different problems.

Another test variation: temporarily reverse the left and right RCAs at the UCA 222.

Just post the WAV test sound file. We can make graphics from that.
