It still bothers me a lot that we have two very different opinions of what you sound like. You never responded to the question of using headphones to listen.

Re: ACX Dang that noise floor
We may still be able to pull this out (but maybe not your original readings). Do burn a proper test. We're on the edges of our seats.
It's super good to know if you did read it again, it would succeed. Wouldn't it be a kick in the head if it didn't?

You are replacing a "real" studio. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/ProAnnouncerStudioSoundproofing.jpg Note the acoustic panels on the two walls behind him and the heavy drapes. My studio has older acoustic panels (not lumpy) on all four walls and ceiling and heavy carpet on the floor. ...

You could also try the furniture moving blanket on the wall. Whatever you decide, heavy is good. Sound has to move the panels or blankets for them to work.

Re: H1n not being recognised by laptop
Did you ever fully outfit the H1n? Do you have an SD card? Can you round up a couple of AAA batteries and run the recorder by itself? The desperation method is record a performance and move the SD card to a small card reader on the computer. If you got the H1n recently, it doesn't come with a card. ...

And just to drag this back to the top. I think your posting was just fine and would work in a presentation. If you're going to keep cycling through studio perfection, you could be there for a very long time. Or working up to hiring an actual studio. We do get postings from people with a good studio ...

Re: Audio critique? It sounds like I'm talking in a box.
If you're not going to soundproof everything, hit the surfaces closest to the microphone (leopard print optional), then the room's opposing surfaces. Then, if you can, everything. That's my joke about once having an office with surgically perfect white walls and no rug. I could clap loudly once and ...

Two more.
Koz
Thanks for posting the complete ACX messsage. We don't have any direct relationship with Audible/ACX, so the only way we know what they're thinking is copies of the field reports like yours.Issue: Several files contain noise at the start and/or tail end.

One more. The volume is low. The blue waves should reach more or less half way, to 0.5 every so often. Yours are tiny.

Re: ACX Dang that noise floor
TN house wav raw wav won't work with AC Check. There are moving around and breathing noises at both ends of the performance. There is no clean background noise or room tone. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/TestClip/Record_A_Clip.html Use your own words. You don't have to struggle through contente...
