You didn't say the magic words..."And Skype."

You are going to want that, right? You thought about that while you were writing the forum post?

Re: Podcast recording on Audacity using 2 microphones and the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 (3rd Gen)

There's pieces missing from the instructions. To get the headphone connection on the bottom of the microphones to work, you have to power the microphone somehow . If you use the USB connection, it's easy. USB has computer power (5volts) in it. If you XLR-only connect to the 2i2, that means you have ...

Re: Noise floor pass/fail/pass/pass

There's an error up there. You can meet ACX with Mastering and Noise Reduction of the Beast 6, 6, 6.

Caffeine Deprivation.

Re: Noise floor pass/fail/pass/pass

So aside from my issues with plosives and sibilance is my overall sounding better as far as not being boxy or buzzy now? That's up to Trebor. He has good ears for that sort of thing. I can give you a little push with DeEssing. The current default DeEsser is by Paul L from here. https://forum.audaci...

Re: Meeting ACX Check makes my audio sound overdriven

I can't use the 6,6,6 Noise Reduction without failing Noise on the ACX Check. Remembering that the goal is to produce an acceptable recording with no noise reduction. Ding! This is the magic microphone. The package supplies an outboard "sound card" and adapter cable with soundcard plug on...

Re: Trouble Hearing Playback from H4n Recording

Phantom Power isn't enabled for microphone 2
And that would show up when you listen to the show with headphones plugged into the H4n. One voice missing.

Using the tools wrong is possible, too. This is from the Mastering instructions. Note the limiter settings.

Still, you should not need stiff Noise Reduction to pass. There is still a mystery.

Re: Meeting ACX Check makes my audio sound overdriven

You have a vocal oddity. Your voice is profoundly non-symmetrical. The "up" parts of your blue waves are double the volume of your "down" waves. That's not fatal or anything; I know announcers with that kind of voice. But that can cause some interesting affects in the mastering t...

Re: Noise floor pass/fail/pass/pass

That's your foam block holding up the Yeti, right? You can get good acoustical effect with the book and towel technique. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MicBookTowel-500t.jpg Sounds and vibrations can't make it through the fluffy bath towel to move the heavy book. So no, you don't actually n...
