Re: Measuring Seconds

Doesn't Zoom work? Pause for over a second before you start talking and then pause again for five seconds at the end of the chapter. Zoom into the beginning and cut off Room Tone over a second. Zoom out full and zoom into the end and cut off any Room Tone over five seconds. If you zoom in far enough...

Re: Measuring Seconds

I want to make sure I have exactly enough at the beginning and end of the audiobook. Can you talk about that some more? Enough what? I'm not aware of any audiobook specification that has to work out exact. Are we talking about ACX/Audible publishing? Are you reading directly into an audiobook submi...

Re: [bug] Noise reduction effect - cannot create macro

There are two cousin problems. Audacity Macros can't make decisions (that I know of). There is no " IF you have a Profile THEN do this, IF NOT , do that." There is no branching. Everything is straight beginning to end. But there is a real world problem and the reason Noise Reduction works ...

Re: problem in MacBook Air

It doesn't show up in Audacity recording devices? Little microphone symbol?

Re: Help Please

And to bring this back around, the interview is still there on my phone as I type this. Automatic Backup. I only delete stuff when I absolutely have to and then only if I have perfect copies in two other places.

Re: Help Please

This is the same interview with moderate noise reduction and the Audiobook Mastering Suite. CactusInterviewProcessed.wav There was a recent poster who did all her captures with a stand-alone Zoom H2 recorder. Jury's out on whether she was double recording that way but that's the way I do it. Koz

Re: Help Please

This is a raw capture I did as a breakfast interview. I just laid the phone on the table microphone up. This is Apple's Voice Memo.

This is with no processing or noise reduction.

Re: Help Please

For important interviews like that one, you can make a backup recording using a stand-alone sound recorder.

Or turn the alarms off on your phone and set that recording using your voice recorder app.

When you finish an important recording, export the work as a perfect quality WAV sound file in addition to anything else. File > Export > Export as WAV > FileTypeMicrosoft.png If you have to edit or change the work, do it to a copy of the WAV file. ~~ Use good filename hygiene. Upper case, lower cas...

Re: New Plantronics Blackwire C3210 headset gets "Error opening sound device" message

I don't actually think this is it, but I wouldn't be shocked if it's a stereo/mono cross. Mono microphones or sound sources happen every day, but a mono speaker or headphone system is pretty rare. I have had failures from crossing those by accident.
