Re: no playthrough

<<<I get the red waveforms>>> The audio waveforms are blue. You're looking at the red bouncing-column audio meters. It's not normal to get a Mac to go into play and record at the same time--"playthrough." I recorded the live soundtrack for a whole theatrical short on a PowerBook and I had ...

Re: LameLib

Here it is. Yes, I used the Carbon version, not the Universal.

I buried it in the installers folder.

Re: LameLib

If we assume you're on a Mac G5 or G4, this is what works for me. Mac OS 10.4.10 Audacity 1.2.4 LameLib for the PowerPC 244K (243,429 Bytes) Created January 7, 2002 I can't tell what the LameLib version number is from the file. If the Universal version doesn't work, try downloading the PowerPC versi...

Re: LameLib

<<<Audacity doesn't recognise it when it asks me where the LameLib file is.>>> I just got back into the office for real. I'm looking up the file we used because it worked just fine. Do you have your Mac set to see file extensions? Finder, Preferences? What exactly did the error say if anything. Koz

Re: where did those wavy lines go?

You just described two-thirds of a complex system.

Describe the rest of it. Start with the needle in the groove.

Re: dbx noise removal

<<<the infamous 'breathing' or 'pumping.'>>> OK, that's a little sticky. I usually associate classic "pumping" with a straight-line audio compressor or mis-adjusted limiter rather than DBX. The vocal vanishes in time with the much larger bass notes. Although the effect of a badly adjusted ...

Re: no playthrough

<<<playback of recordings works.>>> Doesn't surprise me. If you get the bouncing column of lights, you will almost certainly get a recorded show. What do you mean by "playthrough?" My definition is the ability to hear what you're recording in real (or almost real) time. But you say you can...

Re: LOGGING AUDIO DATA

<<<You can add flags to a project in Audacity, press [ctrl]+m while it's recording.>>> Let's pay attention to those English words. You can save metadata in the Project File , not the sound file. And as they warn you clearly in the Audacity instructions, the Project File will not open up in anything ...

Re: self help audios

<<<a butt load of definitions.>>> So you don't really want subliminal tapes, you want Training MP3s that you can listen to in your (her) down time--like jogging or washing dishes or painting the house. Unfortunately, modern people don't have down time. If they're not on the mobil, they're texting th...
