Re: Need some basc, beginners help please

Don't "save" it.

Export the performance as a WAV file.

Open it up in iTunes, make it (them) into a playlist, and burn your brains out.

Re: Lame still won't let me export to mp3

I"m betting a lot of chocolate that the MP3 compression scheme doesn't know how to deal with multiple mono tracks in the same performance, and even if it did, I'll bet even more chocolate that the LAME implementation of Fraunhofer doesn't support it. You need to cut and paste the tracks into on...

Re: Vinyl to mp3

MP3 is not one "thing." It's suite of compression tools that you can tune for best results. If you pay Fraunhofer the Big Bucks for a commercial MP3 compressor, you will get many sliders and filters and tuning tools. The free Lame/Audacity version only has one tuner, the bitrate under Auda...

Re: Lame still won't let me export to mp3

<<<Trying to export mutliple tracks to an MP3>>> That did catch my eye way up there at the top. Are you trying to export long, wide, or batch? One short clip with six individual tracks (front-right, rear-left, center...), one long clip with multiple stereo components one after the other, or maybe fi...

Re: cassette to CD

The tapes are normally in stereo.

Audacity, however, defaults to mono when you first install it. Go into Preferences and make sure it's set to stereo. Some installs make you restart the program before the setting "sticks."

Re: I think it's a bug.

If you load a six-second piano performance and zoom in 12 times, you can see the actual points on the waveform that the A to D used to capture the song. They're the little square boxes along the waveform. I made an MP3 out of the song on the bottom: http://www.kozco.com/tech/soundtests.html West Sid...

Re: Lame still won't let me export to mp3

Permissions? Can you personally open NotePad and save a short file to the place you're telling Audacity to save it?

Re: Removing drums from audio..

<<Like you said, drums are splashed all over the song>>> Actually, I mean splashed all over the sound field. High-hats coming from slightly left, bass from center, cymbals from the right. That's the kind of thing that kills the vocal removal tool. Let me shorten this for you. No. You can't take the ...

Re: I think it's a bug.

I tried it on a six second piano trill and the pause and stop continued to work. You're zoomed in enough to see the sample points on the waveform, right?

I'm on the Mac version of Audacity. When it cools off a little, I'll bring up one of the PCs and try it there.

Which Windows?

Re: Click and Pop Filter

Click and Pop removal is rough to do. The software tries to figure out the peak level range of the performance and then anything suddenly significantly over that must be a click. If the click never gets much louder than the performance--or worse yet, the performance has hand-clapping, you may be stu...
