Re: lamelib

<<<LameLib-Carbon-3.9.sit>>> That would be the Stuffit compressed file straight from downloading. Unstuff it by double clicking on the file. We have a full license for the Stuffit program so I don't know what happens if you don't. It's possible Stuffit Expander is a free download. Most companies cha...

Re: lamelib

You know why they do that, right? MP3 is a licensed technology of the Fraunhofer Institute. If you use free-third party software to preapre an MP3, it's harder for them to get you for the licensing fee.

Re: lamelib

When you download the Lame Library file, it usually comes down as a protected, compressed Stuffit or ZIP file. You have to unstuff it or unzip it for Audacity to see and use it. If you have View File Extensions turned on your Mac, you can see the downloaded filename is something.sit or something.zip...

Re: Default Language Problem

Did you install Audacity on your memory stick as if it was a hard drive, or just copy the files over to it? Some OSs know not to install programs on removable media. Too easy for multiple Windows® software buyers to use the same program. It's also an extreme problem for the software installer and ma...

Re: Dividing an album into tracks

Don't go to the bank with this, but Audacity 1.3.x is much better at managing flags, cues, and track segments than 1.2.x is. I have a fuzzy feeling that this may be your problem.

Re: Missing WINDOWS words

I'm seriously out of my depth here, but that kind of thing happens when you load the wrong language of Audacity. It goes looking for the "foreign" characters and can't find them. So it throws up its little hands and gives up.

Re: please help

Has this ever worked? Typically you don't get to record what's coming out of the speakers. If you plug a microphone into the red or pink connectors of your sound card and open up the microphone in the Windows Sound Manager, then that microphone should show up in Audacity. Another thing that kills pe...

Re: 1.2.5 on Macbook Pro crashes immediately when started

<<<the usual general advice >>> OK, I got that. Ever run Periodic or MacJanitor? Do you leave your machine active (not asleep) 24/7? I see Beta Version software in there. What's JackRouter? Is that a game? I see it's trying to load sound drivers. There's another one called com.game.jack that doesn't...

Re: where did those wavy lines go?

Is there a third really thin black wire associated with those RCA connectors? Do you have your whole music system plugged into one outlet or series of outlets? If you split some music equipment on one socket and some on another, you can get grounding problems in older buildings. I was flying fine un...

Re: 1.2.5 on Macbook Pro crashes immediately when started

OSX doesn't just get unstable for no reason and one good thing you can do to cause instability is to fill up your hard drive. If you select your startup disk and press APPLE-I, how big is the drive and how much room do you have on it? The video people insist on 10% free space at all times. Not a dre...
