Re: Monaural output from recording sources?
Mono recordings are generally recorded with a lateral cut. Stereo cartridges are orthagonal and should give you signal on both left and right with a mono show. Audacity defaults to recording mono when you install it. Check Audacity, Preferences, Audio I/O and make sure everything is the way you want...

Re: Lame still won't let me export to mp3
The slash mark (/) kills everybody. The punctuation marks have additional meaning to the operating system. mygreatfile/yesterday That's not a filename. The computer will look for the file "yesterday" inside the folder "mygreatfile." If there is no such folder, the transaction wil...

Re: Can I add recording options to Audacity?
A common problem. I have a license for Total Recorder Pro. It's a Windows software package that inserts itself between the computer sound services and the sound board playback services. You can record--in the original bitrate--anything you can hear. The last license upgrade gave me extensive timed r...

Re: Looping and cursor movement???
Very few audio programs scrub. Those of us from video land go crazy without that. I suspect in video land, we have a built-in repeat interval (1/30 sec in the US) that doesn't exist in audio. So it's automatically assumed that if we stop the cursor, the system will constantly repeat the 1/30 sec chu...

Re: Splitting Lyrics From The Melod
Most programs have a "Vocal Removal" tool and they pretty much all work the same way. If the singer isn't in mono and exactly in the middle of a perfectly balanced stereo show, you lose. The singer will become damaged, but not missing. Typically what kills you is the audio mixer decided to...

Re: Audacity crashes when launched through TS
Programs have to "know" what remote terminal services are, or they don't respond correctly. If you feel like writing the drivers for Audacity, I'm sure it would be appreciated.

Re: Looping and cursor movement???
Export the clip as a wav file, load it in QuickTime Pro and set the loop option. Play forever. There may be a way to do it internally in Audacity, but I don't know how--yet. You can fake a loop with cut and paste. Make one big long cut. As long as the audience loses interest before it ends, you win....

Re: Can this be done?
Export pairs of tracks as WAV files (everybody can open those) 48 KHz, 16 bit, 2 channel, PCM--no compression. That's the video standard and it's pretty good in general. 44.1 KHz is the CD standard instead of 48KHz, but you can get audio damage with that low a sample rate. You may need to export as ...

Re: not working
What are you recording from? Live microphone? FM tuner? Do the audio controls not show up in the Audacity Window?
