Re: Which file extension do I export to?
The Windows WAV file is a good choice because it's easily readable on Mac and Windows. You need a music CD burning program. Such a program should have come with the CD burner or, if a burner was included in your computer, then there should be a burning program in there somewhere. Nero Lite, Nero, Ad...

Re: Greyed Out Effects
Unlike almost every other program I've ever used, Audacity defaults to selecting nothing. Edit, Select, All or select some portion of your performance and the tools should come back.

Re: recording audio from a desktop video
<<<It was my intention to record the audio component>>> The words "Copyright Infringement" fairly spring from my lips. Did you get permission from the performers to record the work? WireTap Pro will capture anything you can hear by redirecting the normal Mac digital signal pathways. Edit i...

Re: M-Audio Firewire 410?
<<<ell it what audio driver I am using, correct? >>> Oddly enough, I don't think so. The way it's supposed to work is you tell Windows what you're doing with the drivers and install packages and then, after everything is working just fine and Windows is happy, you load and launch Audacity and it goe...

Re: unlabelled axis
See the little teensy downward-facing black arrow to the left of the waveform. Click it and select Waveform (dB). Then grab ahold of the bottom of the audacity windows and pull down. the taller the window is, the more accurate those dB number become. Indeed, percent is a way of measuring video, not ...

Re: DSP or Dolby
Do you know Dolby is going to help you here, or are you guessing? All the Dolby processors I ever met come in pairs. Encode the sound at the beginning and then decode it much later at the performance. I don't know of any Dolby tools to clean up vinyl playback. As far as other digital signal processi...

Re: Reducing Base In Wave File.
You're after the Quick Fix and there may not be one. I said either the microphone or the electronics may be overloading and it's really difficult to tell which one. If you change the microphone and the microphone preamplifier is in trouble, you haven't gained anything. Can you borrow an external mic...

Re: Recording with an Audigy 2 ZS in Linux
Audio in a Linux machine is considered serious black magic. Last time I called the help desk with failed Linux audio , I couldn't get an answer. I went down to the office and there wasn't anybody in the room. The coffee cups were still warm and the cursors were still flashing, and the papers were ju...

Re: Need Click Track Help
Is there a way to generate that document so we don't have to own Microsoft Word to see it? Can you cut and paste? My way too fuzzy impression of a click track is the three or four seconds of ticking to establish the beat right before a performance. Like the drummer hitting the side of his snare. I'v...

Re: how to export mp3
When you pulled down the lame file from the internet, it comes down compressed and protected. Click on the file and it should open up and show you the real lame library file. That's the one that Audacity needs to produce your MP3 music.
