Re: Pre Record Audio Metering
<<<I should also add that they should unambiguously tell you which input they're monitoring.>>> That doesn't happen by looking at the input selector in the middle of the menu banner? You lost me there. <<<spot-free, lab-coat boring.>>> I bet you don't get very many LOLs. I do have to watch the left-...

Re: 1.2.6 crashes importing large files
Sorry. Wrong forum.
Right Click on each drive and select properties. Still, no drive should be much over 90% full.

Re: 1.2.6 crashes importing large files
This screams hard drive filling up somewhere. INFO your brains out. Inspect all your drives including the System Drive. Select a drive and press Apple-I. No drive on an editing machine should be over 90% full. Does "About This Mac" report the correct memory? Did you replace it all wholesal...

Re: recording audio from a desktop video
<<<Your knee jerk reaction that I was infringing copyright took me by surprise.>>> It's not much of a step. Another forum I'm on regularly gets people wanting us to tell them how to "borrow" video from a DVD or from YouTube. That forum is populated by the same people that produced and are ...

Re: Plugins not even in menu
They're not in the bottom of the Effect listing? That's where they're supposed to be. A lot of files come down compressed, encoded, or protected. Did you decompress them before you tried to install them? Anything ending with .zip or .sit can't be seen by Audacity directly. Click the plugin file and ...

Re: Splitting mp3, How do you keep the same quality?
<<<Is there a way to save the individual tracks without losing any quality?>>> I doubt it. The compression efficiency kills editing. You have to turn the MP3 back into a WAV or Something Else in order to cut it. Same problem with MPEG4, H.264, AAC and DVD-MPEG2. They're not actual video or audio sig...

Re: Stops recording
<<<I have over 6 hours of record time showing.>>> So that's not it. OK, split the system in the middle. Can you force Audacity to record from something other than the turntable? Send Audacity to the computer's microphone input or the high-level audio input and plug your iPod into it and play a tune....

Re: Pre Record Audio Metering
<<<50,000 times, give or take a few.>>> Theatrical exaggeration. The point is I've sat in the corner and watched four people trying to troubleshoot a broken audio pathway and they all clicked inside the red meters at least five times--each. It would be insanely handy for something visible to happen ...

Re: Newbie needs help!
There's something that drives the video people crazy--past not being able to scrub. The "I" key sets the in point and the "O" key sets the out point--no matter what happens in the middle short of a thermonuclear event. Open a track. Mess around, jiggle, scroll back and forth, pla...

Re: Stops recording
Something as silly as your hard drives are filling up? How much room do you have on the drive you chose to capture your music to?
