Oh, and I'd be using my Mac PowerBook. I have very good quality analog stereo line inputs and can record directly from the house mix. Export WAV from Audacity at the end of the performance, drop into iTunes and burn my CD. Finish beer. Go home.
You guys are workin' too hard.

Re: Best way to record live show off board?
This came up a short time ago. Turns out many houses are recording their house mix and producing music CDs practically as the band is putting the last drum away. Everyone is perfectly clear that it's not a 48 track mixdown at Lincoln Center, but in some cases, it's the only recording the band has or...

Re: Why does my Audacity keep closing on me?
That's what happens to us when we run out of disk space. Perfect stabiliy and no troubles at all and then suddenly, blammo, crash in the middle of a recording. You can't record directly in MP3, so Audacity has to put relatively large amounts of data somewhere while it's working. Right-click on your ...

And we assume the one in 1.4 will be even better yet.

<<<I made a recording using Audacity. Then, using a different program, I made them into mp3's so I could send them by e-mail.>>> Please stop doing that. Different Program? Pretend your life depended on you telling someone else exactly how to do what you did, and then tell me. <<<(they have the headp...

Crash Report?
Please move this as appropriate. Audacity 1.2.6 Dueling 2 GHz Mac G5 OS-X 10.4.10 QT Pro 7.2.0 I think this started when I tried to open two Audacities at the same time by accident. It pretty much went in the toilet from there. From confused memory now, I think one instance crashed and burned and I ...

Re: Swtching from PC to Mac...how do I open files?
Faaaascinating.
Even if I bring over all the process files inside the piano2_data folder, I get a waveform and proper cursor movement--but no sound. I gotta mess with this a little more.

Re: Swtching from PC to Mac...how do I open files?
I don't think I need to go home for this one.
I can't do it, either.
[Can't open file '/Volumes/local/koz/piano2.data/b00003.auf' (error 2:No such file or directory)]
That look familiar?

<<<wav and mp3 files originally recorded using Audacity on Windows and converted to those formats later.>>> Too many symptoms. Converted.....what? You saved the original performance in the Audacity Project Format (.aup) and then opened up the .aup a week later--still in Windows--and exported the per...

Re: Swtching from PC to Mac...how do I open files?
Does the piano trill open up in QuickTime Player? Do any of your other files? If they do, press Apple-I and make QuickTime tell you the INFO and character of the file. I know there are cross-platform problems. My Mac Audacity WAV files will not open up in QuickTime for Windows, but they open in Wind...
